Το δίκτυο μας μεγαλώνει και εδραιώνεται , γι α του λόγου το αληθές η RTIS έγινε και επίσημα γα τα επόμενα τρία χρόνια μέλος του Global Waste Cleaning Network - GWCN (Παγκόσμιο Δίκτυο Waste Cleaning. Ένα διεθνές μη κερδοσκοπικό δίκτυο που αποτελείται από ΜΚΟ, εκπαιδευτικά ιδρύματα και εταιρείες του ιδιωτικού και του δημόσιου τομέα, που δραστηριοποιούνται και ενδιαφέρονται για περιβαλλοντικά θέματα που σχετίζονται με τη διαχείριση και τη μείωση των απορριμμάτων στον κόσμο, και η διατήρηση των ωκεανών, των ακτών, των εδαφών και της ατμόσφαιρας με έδρα το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Είναι στην ουσία το μεγαλύτερο και πιο διαδεδομένο περιβαλλοντικό δίκτυο στον κόσμο.

Το GWCN είναι ιδιαίτερα αφοσιωμένο στη καλυτέρευση και διατήρηση υγιών ωκεανών, ακτών, εδαφών και της ατμόσφαιρας τόσο για τους ανθρώπους όσο και για τη φύση.
Το παγκόσμιο δίκτυο GWCN υποστηρίζει περιβαλλοντικές δραστηριότητες, προβάλλει, συνδέει και εκπαιδεύει τα μέλη του δικτύου της, συμβάλλει σε περιβαλλοντικές συζητήσεις, προωθεί την περιβαλλοντική έρευνα και διαδίδει πληροφορίες σχετικά με το περιβάλλον.

Το GWCN διαδραματίζει ζωτικό ρόλο στο αυξανόμενο παγκόσμιο κίνημα για τη μείωση των επιπτώσεων της Περιβαλλοντικής ρύπανσης στην κοινωνία μέσω της υπεράσπισης και της εφαρμογής τεκμηριωμένων προγραμμάτων για τη μείωση της ρύπανσης στους ωκεανούς, τις ακτές, τα εδάφη και την ατμόσφαιρα.

Ο σκοπός του Παγκόσμιου Δικτύου Καθαρισμού Απορριμμάτων είναι να υποστηρίξει περιβαλλοντικές δραστηριότητες, να παρουσιάσει, να συνδέσει και να εκπαιδεύσει τα μέλη του δικτύου, να συμβάλει σε περιβαλλοντικές συζητήσεις, να προωθήσει την περιβαλλοντική έρευνα και να διαδώσει πληροφορίες σχετικά με το περιβάλλον.

Η RTIS ως ένα δίκτυο που τιμά τους σκοπούς και στόχους του, έγινε επίσημα μέλος και αρχίζει τη συνεργασία με το GWCN με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στα θαλάσσια απορρίμματα, την ατμοσφαιρική και πλαστική ρύπανση και τη διαχείριση των απορριμμάτων

RTIS Network is getting bigger and influential in the global scene of Environment, in fact RTIS Network becomes officially and for the next three years member of the (Global Waste Cleaning Network). Global Waste Cleaning Network – GWCN is an international non-profit network comprised of NGOs, Educational institutions, and private and public sector companies that are active and interested in environmental issues related to the management and reduction of waste, whether solid, liquid or gaseous. GWCN is in particular dedicated to conserving and maintaining healthy oceans, coastlines, lands and the atmosphere for both people and nature. GWCN supports environmental activities, showcases, connects and trains its network members, contributes to environmental debates, fosters environmental research, and spreads environment related information.

GWCN plays a vital role in the growing worldwide movement to reduce the impact of Environmental pollution on society via advocacy and the implementation of evidence-based programs to reduce pollution in Oceans, Coastlines, Lands and the Atmosphere.

The purpose of the Global Waste Cleaning Network is to support environmental activities, showcase, connect and train the network members, contribute to Environmental debates, foster environmental research, and spread environment related information.

GWCN advocates for global environmental issues, with special focus on marine debris, air and plastic pollution, and waste management.

RTIS as a network that honors its goals and objectives, officially became a member and begins cooperation with GWCN with special focus on marine litter in Greece and Med countries, air and plastic pollution and waste management in both the islands and mainland Greece.

Η RTIS στο πλαίσιο της ενημέρωσης της εκπαίδευσης και της διάδοσης της πληροφορίας, ενημερώνει όλους του φίλους ότι:

Τα τελευταία δύο χρόνια της πανδημίας βρεθήκαμε, αντιμέτωποι με τη μεγαλύτερη έξαρση σε περιοχές με έντονη ατμοσφαιρική ρύπανση. Δεν είναι κάτι καινούριο!

Πάντα γνωρίζαμε ότι σε περιοχές με υψηλή ατμοσφαιρική ρύπανση η βαρύτητα και οι επιπλοκές των ασθενειών του αναπνευστικού συστήματος είναι συχνότερες. Είναι όμως μόνο η ατμοσφαιρική ρύπανση από τους κινητήρες κίνησης, των εργοστασίων και της παραγωγής ενέργειας; Όχι! Είναι και η ηχορύπανση, η φωτορύπανση, η ατμόσφαιρα και οι χημικές ουσίες που εισπνέουμε σε χώρους εργασίας, οι χημικές ουσίες που καταναλώνουμε με την τροφή και το νερό, καθώς και οι ρύποι που προέρχονται ακόμα και από πολεμικές συμπλοκές και μεταφέρονται με τον αέρα σε μεγάλη απόσταση, ή διοχετεύονται στο έδαφος και τους υδροφόρους ορίζοντες.
Όλοι αυτοί, είναι παράγοντες που βλάφτουν την υγεία βραχυπρόθεσμα ή μακροχρόνια.

Ο Παγκόσμιος Οργανισμός Υγείας (ΠΟΥ) εκτιμά ότι οι περιβαλλοντικοί παράγοντες καταπόνησης ευθύνονται για το 12-18 % του συνολικού αριθμού των θανάτων στις 53 χώρες της ευρωπαϊκής περιφέρειας του ΠΟΥ. Ο καθαρός αέρας, τα καθαρά ύδατα, η γόνιμη γη για την παραγωγή τροφίμων, η ενέργεια και οι εισροές πρώτων υλών για την παραγωγή αποτελούν σημαντικό παράγοντα υγείας και ευεξίας του ανθρώπινου οργανισμού.

Today the planet is “celebrating” World Health day!

RTIS based on its over time mission is informing the friends that:

In the last two years with the pandemic, we have been faced with a greater outbreak of it in areas with intense air pollution. It is not
something new!

We have always known that in areas with high air pollution, the
severity and complications of diseases of the respiratory system are more common.
But is it only air pollution from engines, propulsion, factories, and energy production? No! They include noise pollution, light pollution, air and chemicals that we inhale in the workplace, chemicals that we consume with food and water, as well as pollutants that come even from war conflicts and transported through the air in distance, or are channeled into the soil and aquifers. These are all factors that can harm our health, in the short or long term.

The World Health Organization (WHO)
estimates that environmental stressors are responsible for 12-18% of the total number of deaths in the 53 countries of the European WHO region. Fresh air, clean water, fertile land for food production, energy and inputs of raw materials for production are an important factor of health and well-being of the human body.

✔️Our health depends on the health of the environment, not only around us, but worldwide.

✔️A healthy planet means a healthy person and vice versa! Our health depends on the environment and how we manage it.

✔️Our role and purpose is a healthy environment for healthy people.

Η RTIS γιορτάζει την Παγκόσμια Ημέρα Υδρόβιων Ζώων!

🐟 Εκτός από τα ψάρια, στην κατηγορία των υδρόβιων ζώων περιλαμβάνονται μια ποικιλία άλλων υδρόβιων οργανισμών, όπως κοράλλια, μαλάκια, αμφίβια, αστερίες θαλάσσια θηλαστικά, υδρόβια πτηνά κ.α.

Τα θαλάσσια οικοσυστήματα υφίστανται σημαντική πίεση από την υπεραλίευση, την υποβάθμιση των οικοτόπων, τη ρύπανση και την κλιματική αλλαγή επηρεάζοντας τους πληθυσμούς των περισσότερων ειδών. Μακροχρόνιες μελέτες σε διάφορα μέρη της Μεσογείου έχουν δείξει επίσης ασταθείς τάσεις τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες.

Υπάρχει επιτακτική ανάγκη να αντιμετωπίζονται τα υδρόβια είδη με τον σεβασμό που τους αξίζει. Οι προσπάθειές μας να ευαισθητοποιήσουμε την κατάσταση των υδρόβιων ειδών πρέπει να αυξηθούν, για να ανταποκριθούν στις μεγάλες προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίζουν σήμερα μέσω νόμων, πολιτικής, εκπαίδευσης και ορθής διαχείρισης της γης. Πρέπει επίσης να σκεφτούμε πώς αλληλεπιδρούμε με τα υδρόβια είδη, πώς τα αντιμετωπίζουμε και τις συχνά καταστροφικές επιπτώσεις που έχουμε σε αυτά και στο περιβάλλον τους.

🎯 Βασικός στόχος του RTIS στο θέμα αυτό, είναι η συνεχής ενημέρωση και εκπαίδευση των πολιτών, με σκοπό την ευαισθητοποίηση τους για το περιβάλλον και τα υδρόβια ζώα.

RTIS celebrates World Aquatic Animal Day!

🐟 Apart from fish, the category of aquatic animals includes a variety of other creatures, such as corals, mollusks, amphibians, starfish marine mammals, aquatic birds, and more.

Marine ecosystems are under significant pressure from overfishing, habitat degradation, pollution and climate change that are changing the populations of most species. Long-term studies in various parts of the Mediterranean have also shown volatile trends in recent decades.

There is a pressing need to treat aquatic species with the respect they deserve. Our efforts to raise awareness of the situation of aquatic species must rise to meet the great challenges they currently face through the law, policy, education, advocacy, and good stewardship of the land. We must also think about how we engage with aquatic species, how we treat them, and the often-devastating effects we have on them and their environments.

🎯 The main goal of RTIS Network in this matter is the continuous information and education of the citizens, in order to raise their awareness regarding the environment and the aquatic animals.

Weapons of Mass Destruction vs Safety
The risk of the use of WMDs, or of a significant increase in proliferation, is low over the coming two years. However, technologies and expertise will continue to proliferate. This will increase the long term danger that nuclear and chemical weapons, as well as ballistic delivery systems, will reach more countries, with a corresponding greater risk of use.
• International trade, the movement of populations and instability in some countries enable the spread of WMD expertise. There appears to be little prospect of a corresponding improvement in proliferation control-related mechanisms. The urge to acquire WMDs will continue to depend on: regional power balances; military intervention, particularly from Western powers; and whether regimes are liberal democracies or authoritarian. Perceptions of the new US President will be an important factor.
• Saudi Arabia, China, North Korea, Iran, Pakistan and Russia are the high-risk countries for acquisition, transfer or use of WMDs, while Russia and North Korea are potential exporters of ballistic missiles. North Korea remains the most unpredictable country with a potential nuclear weapons capability. Tension between India and Pakistan represents the greatest danger of a direct confrontation between nuclear-armed states.
• Iran’s behavior over the next few years will signal its attitude to the agreement on terminating nuclear weapons development, and on its future intentions when the agreement expires.
• Some non-state actors may use drones to deploy their WMDs. ISIL already has chemical capabilities. It and others may be tempted in the coming years to enter the biological and radiological realm.

Predictable Russian unpredictability
Russia is handicapped by poor economic performance but there is no evidence that this is hindering the consolidation of President Vladimir Putin’s absolute authority or the program to modernize Russia’s military.
• Western assessments that Russia is vulnerable to economic collapse and disruptive internal discontent are exaggerated. Russia is adapting to adversity; the economy is deliberately tilted to security rather than economic freedom. Political power in Russia is being steadily concentrated at the national level in an attempt to overcome system dysfunction in delivery. The current regime appears to be coherent, durable and united at the center.
• Russia sees itself as surrounded by an arc of instability and chaos, and engaged in a “clash of civilizations”. It attributes conflict on its periphery to Western malice and incompetence.
• Two trends should be emphasized. First, Russia is not modernizing its military primarily to extend its capacity to pursue hybrid warfare. It is modernizing conventional military capability on a large scale; the state is mobilizing for war. Second, on the important issues, which generate international tensions, the regime does not change its policies: it reinforces them.

The Middle East’s political fabric – Short analysis from above…
Instability in the Middle East has been driven by the unresolved question of the role of religion in public life. The Muslim Brotherhood model of democratic competition has been replaced by ISIL’s belief in extreme violence to establish and govern a so called caliphate.
• The coup in Egypt which removed the Muslim Brotherhood from power, as well as the Rabaa massacre of Brotherhood supporters in August 2013, have discredited the Muslim Brotherhood’s advocacy of democratic engagement. A lesson from the Egyptian experience appears to be that the demands of Islamist state-building and the requirements of democratic power - sharing cannot be reconciled.
• In Egypt and some other Muslim-majority countries, Islam has historically been a force for national unity. This can change when an explicitly Islamic agenda is embedded within a political party’s program. There is then a risk that a political-religious competition for power will generate a cycle of distrust, repression and destabilization.
• ISIL has taken territory, declared the establishment of a caliphate, and instituted its own governance structures. The notion of the caliphate is very popular for many within the Muslim world. Whatever its eventual fate, the ISIL caliphate will serve as a model for future extremist militias which believe they can take control of territory and establish a governance structure.

Global Risks and threats..
China at a crossroads
President Xi Jinping has reversed elements of China’s collective leadership and asserted greater personal authority. This has had implications for both economic policy and domestic and foreign security strategies.
• Xi has asserted the importance of one supreme, visionary leader. He is now committed to creating a personal leadership cult, which cannot be easily reversed. He is not politically vulnerable in the short term, but the longer term is uncertain. Both the new regime style and the man are brittle.
• The transition to an economy led by domestic consumer demand is not going smoothly as Xi tries to combine a market economy with central economic direction. Fear of the consequences of arbitrary measures is leading to an outflow of capital. This hybrid of central direction and a market economy can survive in the next two years. In a complex domestic and international economy, however, it is not viable in the longer term.
• China’s policy of confrontation in the South China Sea is tied to Chinese national pride. The reaction of US regional allies depends on their degree of confidence that the US will fulfill its commitments. The linkages between Chinese policies, regional reactions and US intentions, increase the potential for conflict, possibly stimulated by an International Tribunal ruling on the South China Sea dispute. China also faces the alienation of Taiwan from China’s increasingly authoritarian regime, and worsened relations with either the US or North Korea over the latter’s nuclear and ballistic missile program.

A Global Overview on crucial risks- over the next two years, there is a high potential for dangerous global instability.
• Both China and Russia have leaders with aggressive foreign policy agendas capable of generating diplomatic and military confrontations. However, while pursuing their objectives, both leaders must cope with structurally weak economies.
• Conflicts in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Turkey and Yemen will continue. Multiple militia groups complicate attempts to end the violence in these countries, while affiliates of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Al-Qaeda spread insurgency and terror attacks across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and cities in Europe. There are few agreed principles on which to build comprehensive peace agreements, but negotiations may lessen the intensity of some conflicts. Neither Al-Qaeda nor ISIL affiliates are part of negotiations.
• The development and use of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) will be a continuing focus of concern. While weapons technology will not leap ahead as fast as information technology, the risks of proliferation, or miscalculation, will continue to require constant monitoring and attention.
• North Korea as a developer of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles remains a country of high concern. India and Pakistan, both nuclear powers, continue to have a confrontational relationship. Some non-state actors have already acquired the capabilities to produce and use chemical weapons. Despite the challenge, they will also likely attempt to use "dirty bombs".
• The potential for the Internet and cyber technology to be a strategically disruptive force is high, even within the next two years. Rapidly evolving information technology and cyber threats will continue to be a major preoccupation for states, non-state actors, private companies and ordinary citizens.
• US foreign policy continues to have much influence on the behavior of countries in the Middle East and Asia. US global engagement is important to countries considering the acquisition or possible use of weapons of mass destruction. Therefore, the foreign policy of the person elected in November 2016 as President of the United States will be a major determinant of international dynamics over the next two years. Leaders of the US, Russia and China will interact on crises in the Middle East, the South China Sea and the periphery of Russia.

Training Employees to Recover From a Crisis
1. Ransomware
This type of malicious software is rapidly growing in popularity, with an incredible 50 percent increase in attacks in 2016. In a ransomware attack, the hacker gains access to a network or system and then threaten to publish the information or block access to it until a ransom is paid. Hundreds of thousands of users suddenly lost access to their data. In the case of businesses, this is a devastating prospect, as a single ransomware attack could lead to the loss of intellectual property, customer information, and more. As these schemes only grow in popularity and level of sophistication, it’s important to incorporate them into your business continuity planning efforts, before it’s too late.
2. Data breach
Good old-fashioned data breaches are also becoming larger and more expensive every year. Just last year, Yahoo! ‘fessed up to an astonishing 1.5 billion user accounts being compromised in two separate incidents. Not only will these breaches be extremely costly, but the company’s reputation is arguably irreparably damaged. And now that hackers around the globe have witnessed such a high-profile, extensive breach, they will be looking to top it in the years to come.
3. Social engineering attacks
Hacking attempts that appeal to the victim’s empathy or trust are becoming increasingly common. Social engineering attacks usually come in the form of phishing, but hackers are constantly growing more sophisticated. Today, the most dangerous social engineering threats also include:
Pretexting: The scammer creates a believable pretext, or false scenario, that prompts the victim to provide key pieces of information that can be used to steal his or her identity.
Baiting: This attack works much like a phishing scheme, but the scammer “baits” the victim by promising him or her something, such as free movie tickets, in return for taking certain actions.
Quid pro quo: This scheme is similar to baiting, where the scammer promises a benefit in exchange for information. The most popular version of this attack involves thieves who call employees at a company and impersonate IT service people.
Modern Risks Require Modern Thinking
In our digital age, many of the most serious threats to an organization revolve around internet technology—hacking, data breach, and social engineering attacks—and that’s likely to be the case in 2018 and beyond.
It’s vital to ensure that your organization is resilient enough to weather these types of fast-moving, highly damaging threats.
