✨ Horseback on the High / Ladder Barrel ✨
It was a real joy to return to this deceptively challenging exercise with my wonderful graduate, Themis Andreoulaki — now five years into her teaching journey, alongside a full-time career as a professional dancer.
In this video, we don’t just do Horseback — we explore it. We talk about how engaging very specific areas of the body, connecting the pelvic floor and deep abdominals through the fascial network, with just enough energy, can create strength without gripping.�The result? Freedom in the hip joints, support for the lower spine, and a beautifully sustained “C” curve throughout the movement.
After 50 years of teaching, I still love these conversations — especially when teaching teachers. They remind me that Pilates is a living practice, one that continues to evolve as we listen more deeply to the body and to each other.
And yes… imagining a longer tail really does help 🐎✨
