προσοχή στη Χρόνια Αποφρακτική Πνεμονοπάθεια. Δεν είναι πάθηση αποκλειστικά μόνο των καπνιστών, σημαντικά εισφέρει και η αστική και βιομηχανική ρύπανση ή υποκλινικές ανοσοανεπάρκειες.
Προσοχή και στις παροξύνσεις της. Δεν είναι πάντα απότοκες ιογενών ή μικροβιακών λοιμώξεων. Ακόμη και εάν απομονωθεί ένας μικροοργανισμός, μπορεί να μην είναι το αίτιο της παροξύνσεως, ενώ, αντίθετα, ακόμη και εάν η καλλιέργειες πτυέλων είναι αρνητικές, η λοιμώδους αιτιολογία της δεν μπορεί να αποκλειστεί. Η χρόνια αποφρακτική πνευμονοπάθεια ΔΕΝ αναγνωρίζεται στις απεικονιστικές εξετάσεις (ακτινογραφίες, αξονικές) και η διάγνωσή της βασίζετασι σε ειδική μελέτη σε οργανωμένο Πνευμονολογικό Ιατρείο. Ακολούθως η διαχείρισή της μπορεί να γίνει σε δομές πρωτοβάθμιας περιθάλψεως.

The BTS Summer Meeting offers a fantastic programme that is both complementary to the Winter Meeting and increasingly aligned with the other educational activities of the Society including e-learning and Short Courses.

In a programme that has more symposia than ever, we are delighted to be able to offer a wide range of topics to meet the needs of all our members and others. The Mini Short Course format continues, this year exploring the areas of Occupational Lung Disease and Clinical Physiology in depth. Driven by feedback and SCE examination results, the Education and Training Committee has very purposefully placed a significant emphasis on Clinical Physiology in this Meeting and in addition to the Mini Short Course there is a joint ARTP/BTS symposia, Physiology Quiz and a keynote lecture on “Why clinical physiology is important”.
