You don’t have to go down a rabbit hole..

The short version: English-language breastfeeding support in Greece is limited. There are some excellent IBCLCs mainly in Athens and Thessaloniki, but finding them - and finding ones who speak your language - might take time and effort that you don’t have when you’re a few days postpartum.

That’s part of the reason I do this work. If you’re looking for feeding support in English from someone who can be the bridge between your needs and the system and can be part of your village, DM me and we can set up a time to talk and see if we are a good fit for each other.

And if you just want to connect with other parents in the same boat, DM me CAFÉ for details on the next free monthly virtual café.

If you packed your hospital bag using a UK or US blog, there are things you will be probably missing. Greek hospitals have different expectations about what you bring - and there are documents and practical items that simply don’t appear on generic lists.

This carousel covers some Greece-specific essentials. The stuff that matters if you’re actually giving birth here.

I’ve turned all of this into a printable checklist that you can download and tick off as you go.

👉DM me the word BAG and I’ll send it to you directly along with a detailed blogpost.

Preparation isn’t about controlling your birth. It’s about understanding your options so you’re not making decisions in the moment without context.

When you’re giving birth in a country that isn’t home, in a system that works differently from what you know, the preparation you need goes beyond breathing techniques and hospital bag lists.

It’s about understanding how things work where you are and feeling confident enough to ask questions when something doesn’t feel right.

If you’re in your first trimester and want a space to start getting oriented, I run a free workshop for expectant parents in Greece.

👉DM me the word WORKSHOP and I’ll share the details.

Funny until it’s not.

If you’ve ever left a medical appointment in Greece feeling like you understood about 60% of what was said, and then spent the next hour Googling everything to fill in the gaps - this one is for you.

You deserve to understand what’s happening with your body and your care. Not roughly. Not “most of it”. All of it. In a language you understand.

That’s why I created a free guide specifically for English-speaking parents navigating the Greek maternity system. DM me the word GUIDE and I’ll send it straight to you.

Although every situation is different, here is roughly what you can expect in the first couple of weeks if tou decide to breastfeed your baby.

Many new parents are expected to figure it out on their own often while recovering from birth, running on no sleep, and navigating a new baby in a country where they might not have family nearby.

Every baby is different, and this is general guidance rather than a rule. But knowing the rough pattern can stop you from panicking on day 4 when everything feels like chaos.

If you’d like to talk this through, DM me the word CALL for a free discovery call.

I know - paperwork isn’t the most exciting topic. But this is the one that catches people out the most.

You’ll be a couple of days postpartum, still figuring out feeding and sleep, and someone will hand you a form. In Greek. With a deadline.

Birth certificate, ΑΦΜ, health book, AMKA registration, passport application… and the timing on all of it matters.

If you’d like to learn more about giving birth in Greece, you can grab my guide through the link in bio.

Family gatherings are beautiful. And also a lot - especially when you’re pregnant or just had your baby, far from your own family, and trying to keep up with conversations about your body in a language that isn’t your strongest.

The advice is usually well-meaning. But when you can’t fully follow it, and you can’t fully respond to it, it can leave you feeling more alone than before.

If you’d like a space where you can talk about this stuff in your own language, with other parents who genuinely understand, I run a free virtual café every month. DM me the word CAFÉ and I’ll send you the details for the next one.

Most of the mums I work with don’t need more willpower or motivation. They need someone who can watch them feed, see what’s happening, and say “here - try this”.

And when they decide to stop breastfeeding I want to better understand where they’re coming from and what led them to that decision.

It sounds simple because it often is. But when you’re exhausted, in pain, and surrounded by conflicting advice - having one calm person in your corner who actually knows what they’re looking at can change everything.

If you’re struggling with feeding and want to talk it through with someone feel free to DM me and we can schedule a quick chat which will help me understand if and how I’m able to support you but also if were a good fit for each other❣️

If someone who loves you has said something that made you doubt your ability to feed your baby, I want you to know that their opinion, however well-intentioned, is not a diagnosis.

Breastfeeding confidence is fragile, especially in the early days. And when the advice coming at you is in a language or culture you’re still navigating, it can be even harder to hold your ground.

I’m saying this because I’ve been hearing similar things over and over again and I know how much they can affect us.

You can love and respect the people around you AND still choose to follow the evidence, your intuition, your preferences. Those things can coexist.

👉If you’re feeling uncertain about whether feeding is going well, DM me and let’s have a proper conversation about it.

I wanted to share what some of the parents who’ve taken my antenatal course said about their experience - because I think their words capture what it is about better than I can❣️

Every person quoted here came in feeling some version of uncertain. Not sure how the Greek system worked. Not sure how to communicate their preferences to their care team. Not sure what to expect from birth, breastfeeding, or those first overwhelming weeks.

And every one of them left feeling like they understood their options, had a plan, and - maybe most importantly - felt like they had a voice in their own care, even when the language around them wasn’t theirs.

That’s what this course is designed to do. It’s not about controlling your birth or following a rigid plan. It’s about making sure you walk into it informed, prepared, and confident that you can ask questions, express what matters to you, and make decisions that feel right - even in a system that works differently from what you’re used to.

There are three upcoming groups:
→ April 28 — for those expecting in May/June
→ June 3 — for those expecting in July/August
→ July 3 — for those expecting in August/September (with an in-person element in Athens)

Groups are kept intentionally small so there’s space for your questions and your specific situation.

⚠️ If you’d like to know more, DM me the word COURSE and I’ll send you the full details. And if you’re not sure whether it’s the right fit for where you are, you can book a Discovery Call through the link in bio and we can have a quick chat to see if and how I can support you - no pressure, no commitment.

💌 And if you know someone who’s expecting in Greece and might benefit from this, I’d really appreciate you sharing this post with them.

😴It’s 3am and you’re Googling “why won’t my baby sleep” again.

Here’s the thing - you’re probably not doing anything wrong. Baby sleep is just genuinely harder than anyone tells you, and most advice out there doesn’t fit real life.

Join me for a free 1-hour online sleep workshop for families in Greece with babies 0–18 months.

Spaces are almost gone - I keep these groups small on purpose and I’m not planning to run this again soon. So if you’ve been meaning to sign up, now’s the time.

❤️ I’ve got you❣️

This is the moment I hear about most often from the parents I work with - that point in the third trimester where it stops being abstract and becomes very real.

And suddenly all the things you assumed you’d figure out along the way are staring at you at once.
How does the system actually work? What happens if you can’t communicate clearly with your care team during labour? What are you entitled to? What should you have already sorted? What do you need to do now? What do you need to buy? How can you prepare for recovery and postpartum?

If this sounds familiar - or if you’re earlier in your pregnancy and want to make sure you won’t reach this point, I got you!

I have two group antenatal courses that start in a few days and there are limited spots as I keep the groups intentionally small. They’re designed for English-speaking expectant parents in Greece (mainly) and the courses cover all of this and much more, in depth.
