🩺 The role of the seminal vesicles and ejaculatory ducts in the male reproductive system

The seminal vesicles and the ejaculatory ducts are important components of the male reproductive system, having essential functions in the process of formation and elimination of seminal fluid.

🔬 The seminal vesicles are paired glands, located posterior to the urinary bladder, which contribute significantly to the total volume of the semen. They secrete an alkaline fluid, rich in fructose, prostaglandins and other substances that support the mobility and the viability of s***m. Fructose is the main source of energy for s***m, and the alkaline environment helps neutralize vaginal acidity, thus favoring fertilization.

🔬 The ejaculatory ducts are short channels, formed by the union of the vas deferens with the seminal vesicle duct, which cross the prostate and open at the level of the prostatic urethra. 🔍 Circumcision and male fertility 🤔

The answer is simple: it does NOT directly affect male fertility ❌. S***m quality, hormone levels and erectile function remain unchanged ✅.

❓Who determines the s*x of the child at conception❓

The s*x of the child is established at the time of fertilization of the egg, being influenced exclusively by the father's genetic material.

🔬 How does the genetic mechanism work?

The maternal egg always contains an X s*x chromosome. The father's s***m can contain either an X chromosome or a Y chromosome:

🔹X chromosome (from the father) + X chromosome (from the mother) = Girl (XX)

🔹Y chromosome (from the father) + X chromosome (from the mother) = Boy (XY)

Thus, the s*x of the child is determined exclusively by the type of the chromosome (X or Y) brought by the s***m that fertilizes the egg.

HOW IS A SPERMOGRAM PERFORMED AND INTERPRETED❓

The s***mogram is an essential test for evaluating male fertility and it is performed by analyzing the seminal fluid. To obtain accurate results, the patient must follow several recommendations before collection: s*xual abstinence for 2-7 days, avoiding alcohol, caffeine or to***co consumption and reducing stress. The collection is done by ma********on, in a sterile container, either at the clinic where the laboratory is located, or at home (with rapid transport to the laboratory, at body temperature). The sample must be analyzed within one hour of collection.

👉The interpretation of the s***mogram is based on several parameters: ej*****te volume (normal >1.5 ml), s***m concentration (>15 million/ml), motility (at least 40% mobile), normal morphology (>4% according to strict Kruger Morphology criteria), pH (7.2-8.0) and the presence of leukocytes (
