Stemming from Cranial Osteopathy, CranioSacral is a gentle form of manual therapy which focuses on restoring balance to the tissues of the skull, the spine, the sacrum, the coccvx, and the movement of cerebrospinal fluid. This practice lives and evolves, as we do, and has beaun to include pre and perinatal psychology, trauma resolution, and recent advances in neuroscience.
The goal of these sessions is to release any restrictions or subluxations found within the CranioSacral system in order to allow the nervous system to function optimally.
Your practitioner is sensitive to the minor movements within this system and can detect imbalances through entrainment, a traditional technique of palpation. They will work to improve motility to the sutures of the head, allowing for feelings of deeper connection, acceptance of self, and a sensation of floating' or 'softening' is often described.
During your session, you will feel gentle lifting and holding of the head, neck, spine, pelvic bones, or light palpation of the extremities.
During your session, you may:
💫relax so deeply, you fall asleep
💫enter the theta brainwave, generally experienced in deep meditation and in the 3-5 minutes prior to waking from sleep, as well as the 3-5 minutes just before sleeping
💫find vourself in a dreamlike state
💫experience memories that have been repressed
💫feel a sense or widening, softening, floating, comfort, or warmth
