The problem
In Guatemala, one of four children is sexually abused; each hour a child is sexually assaulted, these numbers are distressing. Did you know that the worst horrors are carried out in secret? Between 80 to 85% of sex offenders utilize trust, family relationship, and deception to commit a crime that leaves traumatic consequences to their victims. Right now in Guatemala, there are no homes that specifically look after children victims of sexual violence. Moreover, an overpopulation of children who are victims of violence has exceeded the capacity of existing shelters were they can be protected. Therefore, justice entities are constrained and forced to postpone rescue actions needed until a suitable shelter can be found for these children- who, as a result of the lack of shelter, will have to wait night by night in silence for rescue. Who are we? We are a young, Christian, Guatemalan family, with a normal life, full of dreams, goals and aspirations, we have two kids Jimena of nine and Thiago of one year old, we initially refused to think that we might be the tool God wants to use to start his Vision, we found many reasonable excuses why it was impossible to make the Vision, but every excuse has been refuted, so here we are; we have discovered God’s purpose for our lives, with a clear vision for Girls restoration product of sexual abuse, we are putting our faith in action by addressing a need for these children in Guatemala. As a result, we are establishing “House of Hope & Blessing” -- a shelter that will open its doors to look after children living in critical conditions due to a lack of immediate protection, to meet their needs during an specific period of time that will allow them to be spiritually and psychosocially empowered for their daily lives, prepared to face the legal process of their case, and finally, to be restored. We firmly believe that love is the perfect and intimate bond that allows us to do God´s work. We know that the healing of hearts and souls can only come from God, and we are willing to become an active part of this process. How can you help? / Our needs:
