The Eden Food Forest is a project located near the village of Lanquin in Guatemala. The 70,000+ m2 of property are currently mainly use to grow Cacao, the food from the gods. The goal in a long vision is to transform it into a fully functional poly-culture agrosylvestry food forest entirely self sufficient in food, energy and medicine. Using permaculture and sylviculture, the tropical climat allow
us to grow many food from sweat potatoes to banana passing by breadfruit, mangos, papaye, amaranthe and well... hundreds of tropical fruit trees and veggies. Rasing chickens for eggs, fish for meat is also planned, bees for honey... is also planned, the only limit is our imagination. By multiplying bio diversity we aim to reduce plagues and increase the quality of soils. We also aim to have an impact on local life development that is for the moment pushed toward a destructive and cost full westerner lifestyle. Access to education is very hard around here so we would love to have an impact and share ecological consciousness as well. So to resume, this project is a come back to earth kind of idea. Going back to a more "basic" way of living but using modern knowledge tools of communications to make it as multinational and optimized as possible so we can get what we aim for : abundance of food and medicinal plants for us and the surrounding community. An ambitious project that hopefully can serve as a model for likeminded peoples.
