When Janet McDermott began experiencing weakness, numbness in her arm, and facial drooping, she knew something wasn’t right. At GRMC, our ER team quickly assessed her symptoms, confirmed she was having a stroke, and took immediate action—because in moments like these, every second matters. 💙

From the ER to inpatient care, Janet was surrounded by nurses who not only monitored her condition closely, but provided comfort, reassurance, and strength during one of the most uncertain times of her life. After discharge, she was left wondering if life would ever feel the same again.

But with the encouragement and dedication of our Rehab team, Janet began to rebuild. Step by step, she went from a walker, to a cane, to walking on her own—regaining strength in her left arm and leg, restoring her confidence, and finding deep gratitude to God for a second chance at life.

Her journey is a reminder that with the right care here at GRMC, recovery is possible. Know the signs. Act fast. And when it comes to healing, trust that your GRMC Familia is here for you every step of the way.

Happy National Patient Experience Week! ✨

This week, we proudly recognize our Patient Experience and Human Experience teams—building the foundation of care through every detail, every interaction, and every moment that matters. 💙

Inspired by this year’s theme, “Building the Foundations of Experience” by The Beryl Institute, we are reminded that exceptional healthcare is rooted in trust, connection, compassion, and consistency—and that the smallest details often make the biggest impact. 🙌🏽

For our patients, that means going beyond clinical care through thoughtful touches like Care Carts in our outpatient clinics, comfort items for our inpatients, and intentional moments designed to bring ease, reassurance, and dignity throughout their stay.

For our own GRMC Familia, our Human Experience efforts focus on creating an environment where people feel supported, valued, and connected—because when our people feel cared for, they are empowered to deliver the same level of compassion to those we serve. ❤️

At GRMC, care is in the details—and it’s through these meaningful, everyday moments that we continue to strengthen the experience for our patients, our people, and our island community.

Si yu’os ma’åse Human Experience for bringing heart, purpose, and connection into every experience! 💙
