Today Governor Lou Leon Guerrero officially proclaimed January 2026 as Leprosy Awareness Month and January 25 as World Leprosy Day.

During the signing ceremony at Adelup, DPHSS Director Theresa C. Arriola highlighted Guam’s milestone achievement: becoming the first jurisdiction in the region to implement the self-guided Global Partners for Zero Leprosy (GPZL) Model.

The Goal:

- Raise awareness of the disease.

- Highlight challenges faced by those affected.

- Eliminate the stigma that prevents people from seeking care.

Together, we can ensure a healthier, more informed Guam.
