The vision of G/M GWEP is to transform the current health systems serving the elderly and those with ADRD, through workforce development and engaged community networks, resulting in improved health outcomes and improved quality of life for our elderly. This project is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration of the US Department of Health and Human Services as part of an award totaling $754,499.00 with zero percentage financed with non-governmental sources. Join us on Friday, January 12th for a CNA workshop on the Positive Approach to Care™ Normal Aging vs Not Normal Aging.

Learn how to properly take care of individuals with dementia and receive a certificate for completing the course.

This workshop will be from 9am-12pm at the University of Guam Margaret Perez Hattori-Uchima School of Health in room 145 (first floor).

Two in-person sessions about basic estate planning, advanced medical directives and other related basic legal services for senior citizens 55 and older will be offered at the University of Guam in October.

The sessions are being offered for free under a partnership between the Margaret Perez Hattori-Uchima School of Health’s Guam-Micronesia Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) and the Elder Justice Center, a program under the Public Defender Service Corporation’s Civil Law Center.

This session will be held:

6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 9
10 a.m. on Saturday, October 14

Room 145, First floor, Margaret Perez Hattori-Uchima School of Health Building

The Guam/Micronesia Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program is pleased to offer hands-on guidance and training for those looking to enhance their skills and be more confident in caring for their loved ones.

On September 26 and 28, individuals who reserved their slot will be given the opportunity to practice taking vital signs (blood pressure, oxygen levels, pulse, and respiration).

Morning sessions will be from 9am-11:45am and afternoon sessions will be from 12:45pm-4:30pm for both days.
