As the Guam Memorial Hospital float comes into view, we echo this year’s theme: "Fanohge CHamoru – Stand Ye Guamanians." These powerful words, from our island’s anthem written by Dr. Ramon Sablan, Guam’s first CHamoru physician, call us to rise with purpose and pride.
At the heart of the float stands the latte stone, symbolizing eternal resilience and our Professional Support Services, the quiet foundation of care. Beside it, a humble nipa hut represents Administration, offering shelter and stability during the island’s most difficult times.
Four pillars rise high:
Medicine, with the caduceus for healing
Nursing, with the lamp of compassion
Operations, with a torch of service
Finance, with the strength to sustain
Surrounding them are nature’s gifts: coconut leaves, hibiscus, birds of paradise and monstera each symbolizing the healing, endurance, and natural beauty of our land and people.
GMHA stands as the island’s healer. In this sacred journey of past, present, and future, they have risen for us. Let us now rise for them.
“Fanohge CHamoru, put i tano’-ta…”
Stand, CHamoru, for our island.
