For many men, silence feels safer than honesty. Years of being to "man up" or "keep it together" can make it hard to say, "I'm struggling" or "I need help."
On Guam, men experience a disproportionately higher rate of su***de than women, yet they're also less likely to reach out for help or conenct with services when they need it most.
But healing doesn't happen alone. It grows in spaces where listening replaces judgment. Where family, friends, partners, and coworkers choose to care instead of correct.
Every time we respond with empathy instead of shame, we make it easier for men to speak, and for the next generation to see that strength and emotion can exist together.
Reach out to the men in your life. Check in, even if they seem fine. Sometimes one honest conversation can remind someone that they don't have to carry it alone.
