YOUTH GROUP DONATES MEDICAL DRUGS TO REGION 10! (Guyana Times, 4th April)
Regional Health Officer (RHO) of Region 10, Dr Pansy Armstrong on Thursday received a quantity of medical drugs, handed over by the Experiment To Discover Hope Youth Group.
The drugs were made possible through an overseas-based medical team, spearheaded by Dr Wayne Sampson and Dr Collie Oudkerk, who both hail from Linden.
The drugs are expected to be distributed to various health facilities across the community.
Health centres at Wisroc, Amelia’s Ward, One Mile, Vivian Parris, Silver Hill and others are expected to benefit from the donation.
Armstrong noted that the overseas-based team has been conducting outreach clinics in Linden annually for the past two years. The drugs consist of vitamins and painkillers, among others, and were handed over in the boardroom of the Region 10 Democratic Council (RDC).
President of the youth group Natalia Jordan, who handed over the drugs, said they were pleased to be a part of the initiative.
“This is our way of giving back to the community. Our group is based on volunteerism and giving back. This is our way of showing the community that we care.”
Armstrong said she was pleased to receive the pharmaceuticals and thanked the persons behind the initiative.
“I must say it’s a good gesture. This donation of drugs will go to the facilities that it is intended to go and it will benefit our community. We welcome the doctors yearly and we are thankful for what they have donated,” she stated.
