The brain is very sensitive to dehydration. When the child is dehydrated, it can result in the jamming of thoughts or the inability to retain information as effectively as possible.

Claire Bonnaud, our Adaptogenese Kinesiologist, explains why this happens in our latest post (LINK IN BIO).

Most of the foods we eat today contain chemicals to extend their shelf life in stores. Many of these products contain “toxic” elements that the body has to work on eliminating. The lymphatic system helps eliminate these wastes and its circulatory system is mainly activated by muscle movements.

Some children are able to move constantly so that the over-stressed lymphatic system does its job. However, if the body has trouble eliminating excess toxins, it will use other organs, by “indirect elimination”. For example, the skin with the appearance of acne, the tonsils with repeated sore throats, or the brain with loss of memory function.

That's why one of the first things to do when a child is tired and/or inattentive should be to give him/her water to drink.

Pure water is one way to help the body eliminate toxins. Also, in the event of an organ overload, Adaptogenese Kinesiology can be an effective tool to drain the organs that need it, as well as to correct a possible general dehydration or related to a specific organ.

Have you heard the saying 10% of life is what happens to you and 90% how you react?

Here are some things you can do when feeling overwhelmed:

😮‍💨 Breathe Deeply: It can be as simple as taking 5 minutes, breathing 6-10 deep breaths per minute. This will help slow your heart rate, and and can instantly help you to feel calmer

🚶🏾‍♀️ Exercise: It doesn’t have to be a full-on gym workout. It can be a walk or a jog, a bike ride or some yoga

💪 Relax your muscles: the physical influences the mental. Tense and release all of your muscle groups, which then in turn will make you feel mentally relaxed as you feel the tension being released

🌤Take an emotional time out: do something that has nothing to do with the origin of your stress! Read a book, go to a park, anything that means that you take time away from your problems

🧹 Have a clear up: decluttering or tidying will make you feel less stressed, as you will be taking a break and also feel accomplished for getting something positive done

✍️ Writing it down: things feel more ‘real’ and manageable when they are ‘out of your head’ and written down

💦 Drink water: yes, you heard right! This simple act can improve our mood. Water is important for brain function and helps relieve stress

🙇🏽‍♂️ Recall this emotion: you’ve perhaps had a similar experience in the past. Was is all that bad in the end? Think about how you got over that emotion before and how you overcame it. Every experience is valuable, and this one too

🧏‍♀️ Speak to someone: Talk about how you’re feeling, or talk about something completely unrelated. It doesn’t matter, as long as you it helps you feel connected with someone and blow off steam

🤔 Rethink your situation: This is not just about thinking positive thoughts. Try to look at your problem from a different perspective. Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) can help to see things differently and how the way we think about things plays a big part in how we see them.
