Ankle exercises for runners 

1. Calf raise off step: Push through the ball of your foot and raise your heel up and then down with control. You should feel a stretching feeling in your calf at the bottom of the movement. 

2. Kettlebell pass arounds: Balance on 1 foot while passing a kettlebell (Start with 4kg) around you, alternating between clockwise and anti-clockwise every 2 revolutions. Do your best to keep your foot stable on the ground. 

3. Pogo hop: Hop up and down while keeping your knee and ankle stiff, try 3x12-15 reps for each (20 seconds for the pogo hop)

All the way from Toronto, Canada - say hello to Jiaqi (Jacky) our newest Physiotherapist!

Jiaqi has brought his expertise to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 and uses a comprehensive approach to the clinic, where he believes in assessing and treating the body as a whole, leaving no stone unturned. He likes to employ a multi-faceted treatment style—from advanced manual therapy, acupuncture and needling techniques to targeted exercise prescription and education to address the root cause of pain and dysfunction and ensure lasting results.

Whether it’s getting out of pain, returning to sport, improving performance or simply just getting back to doing what you love, his goal is clear: for every patient to leave the clinic feeling stronger and moving better than when they walked in.

3 Key Exercises for Runners 🏃‍♂️

1. Banded Wall Clamshells: Standing on one leg and move your opposite knee outwards without moving your pelvis.

2. Bulgarian Split-Squat: Keep your front foot flat on the ground, and don’t let your knee cave inwards. Squat down while keeping your weight on your front leg.

3. Elevated Single Leg Glute Bridge Press your heel into the bench and raise your hips up into the air while keeping your back flat.

Try 3 x 12-15 reps for each!

Hey everyone, my name is Dom Pereira and I’m a physiotherapist who is highly motivated to help you reach your goals whatever they may be. Growing up, I suffered from numerous sporting injuries and ended up in the physio clinic more often than I’d like. My experiences of going through the rehab process myself, combined with my passion for movement and health inspired me to pursue a career in physiotherapy to help others in return. I believe in tailored and personalized care for each individual. First consults always begin with a thorough history taking and assessment to understand your background, lifestyle and body to ensure your goals can be met and exceeded. I strive to not only help you fully recover but for you to leave feeling healthier, more equipped for the future and performing better through building routines and programs together. My treatment style consists of blending manual and exercise therapy based on what the individual needs most at that moment. Dry needling/acupuncture and shockwave is also used when necessary. Areas of the body I’m especially experienced in treating include neck and lower back pain, hips, shoulders and knees.

A large part of my practice includes golf physiotherapy. It’s a sport that I never lived without and love everything about. I find immense satisfaction in helping fellow golfers of all levels play at their highest level possible, pain free, for longer. My golf specific education includes being Titleist Performance Institute (Medical Level 3) certified. I have the pleasure of working with numerous tour professionals and have also provided physiotherapy support at local and overseas events such as the Hong Kong Open, LIV Golf and will be the team physiotherapist for Hong Kong at the upcoming National Games which I’m very excited about!

Outside of the clinic, you can be find me on the golf course with friends and family, training in the gym or enjoying a cup of coffee alongside a book at one of the many cafes around town. I love reading about exercise programming, sleep, nutrition and longevity to help myself, loved ones and clients live a longer and more fulfilling life.

Stella’s journey into powerlifting began when she started taking strength training seriously as a strongman competitor. In 2018, she transitioned into powerlifting and participated in her first competition and won, igniting her passion for the sport. Powerlifting has provided her with a structured training regimen, teaching her the importance of consistency and the value of sticking to a plan long enough to see results. The thrill of setting personal bests serves as a highlight along her journey, fueling her motivation and dedication. Along the way, Stella has not only gained strength but also forged lasting friendships within the supportive powerlifting community, shaping her experience and goals for the future.
