Elise Phillipson, Psychotherapist & Counsellor at AMindset, was recently featured in South China Morning Post (SCMP).

In the article exploring why many midlife professionals in Hong Kong are retraining as counsellors, therapists, and coaches, Elise shares her personal journey of finding deeper purpose through psychotherapy and stepping into a career built on empathy, reflection, and meaningful human connection.

Her story is a strong reminder that career growth does not always follow a straight path. Sometimes, the most meaningful work begins later in life, when experience and purpose finally align.

At AMindset., we value therapists like Elise whose work reflects compassion, professionalism, and genuine understanding of the human experience.

This feature highlights not only Elise’s personal journey, but also the importance of creating spaces where mental health support is approached with depth, care, and authenticity.

You can be doing everything right and still feel like you are falling behind.

The pressure.
The expectations.
The constant voice telling you to do more, be more, achieve more.

It gets exhausting.

Sometimes, the hardest battle is not outside — it is the one happening quietly in your own mind.

You do not have to face that alone.

If this feels familiar, maybe it is time to talk.

Reach out to Hannah at AMindset. Support can start with one honest conversation.

Holding it together on the outside doesn’t always mean feeling okay on the inside.

Sometimes it looks like burnout. Sometimes it feels like being stuck, disconnected, or quietly carrying more than you can explain.

Meet Hannah Ma.

Hannah works with adolescents and young adults navigating stress, self-doubt, life transitions, and the quiet pressure of trying to be “enough.” With a background in youth development and Positive Psychology, she creates a space where clients can slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves.

Her approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply person-centred — helping people make sense of overwhelming emotions, questions of purpose, and the tension between external expectations and inner needs. She believes healing starts when people feel genuinely heard, not rushed or judged.

Whether you’re navigating:
• Burnout and emotional exhaustion
• Career uncertainty and life transitions
• Feeling lost, stuck, or not enough
• Pressure from expectations, identity, or purpose

There is a way forward — with the right support.

Hannah is part of the AMindset LCC Programme, making professional support more accessible to the Hong Kong and global community.

Ready to start feeling more like yourself again?

Parenting does not become difficult in the major milestones, it becomes difficult in the ordinary moments.

The rushed mornings, the repeated reminders, the emotional outbursts after long workdays, and the guilt of feeling like there is never enough time. These are the moments that shape connection the most.

Compassionate parenting is not about getting everything right. It is about being present, aware, and responsive. When children feel understood and emotionally safe, they develop stronger confidence, resilience, and healthier emotional regulation that stays with them into adulthood.

For working parents, this approach also creates stronger relationships at home and reduces emotional exhaustion. Small changes in communication, patience, and understanding can create lasting impact for both parent and child.

Productivity means very little if it costs you your peace.

This Labour Day, we’re reminded that behind every deadline, responsibility, and achievement is a person carrying pressure, expectations, and emotional weight.

Success should not come at the expense of your wellbeing. Mental health is not separate from work, it shapes how we lead, perform, connect, and recover.

If work has started to feel heavier than it should, that is worth paying attention to.

Pause. Reset. Rebuild in a way that is sustainable.

Your wellbeing is part of your work, not separate from it.

Silence may feel easier in the moment, but it often gives bullying more room to grow.

Bullying is rarely just about one person causing harm. It is a group dynamic, and bystanders play a powerful role in shaping what happens next. Choosing to stay silent can unintentionally reinforce harmful behaviour, while even small acts of support, speaking up, checking in, or refusing to enable the behaviour, can interrupt the cycle and create safer spaces.

Research consistently shows that when no one intervenes, bullying is more likely to continue. But when empathy, awareness, and action are present, the environment begins to shift toward accountability, safety, and support.

In our article, Bullies and Bystanders: Building Safer Spaces, we explore how everyday actions can make a meaningful difference at school, in the workplace, and online.

Creating safer spaces starts with recognising that doing nothing is also a choice.

“Understanding begins when we listen without judgment and choose to see the world through different minds.”

We partnered with WASHK for a series of workshops, with our April 24 session focused on Celebrating Unique Minds: Understanding Autism and Embracing Differences, led by April Qin and Jacqueline Chung.

It was more than a talk. It was a space for honest conversations, deeper understanding, and real connection. As we explored autism and challenged common misconceptions, what stood out most was the openness in the room, from both adults and children.

The children’s segment was especially meaningful. Their energy, curiosity, and active engagement showed that when given the right space, understanding and acceptance can begin early and grow naturally.

Through shared reflections and thoughtful discussion, the session reinforced a simple but important truth. Creating inclusive spaces begins with awareness, but it is sustained through empathy and intentional action.

We are grateful to everyone who joined and contributed to such a meaningful and impactful session.

Continue the conversation and deepen your understanding.
