TVB《最強生命線》 -- 側彎路上：從恐懼到希望

為響應國際脊柱側彎關注月，杏林骨幹慈善基金會聯同脊柱側彎病友互助組織 香港椎夢社 Hong Kong Scoliosis Awareness Group，參與了無綫電視翡翠台《最強生命線》特別節目《側彎路上：從恐懼到希望》，該節目於6月24日播出。

節目邀請了基金會代表骨科專科醫生關日康醫生，椎夢社代表Ruby和Natalie，還有Natalie的母親Selina, 以家長的身份分享了如何全程支持Natalie面對脊柱側彎的經歷。這對許多關心子女健康的家長來說應該非常有共鳴。

In support of Scoliosis Awareness Month, the Hong Kong Musculoskeletal Health Foundation (HKMSHF) and the scoliosis support group Hong Kong Scoliosis Awareness Group (HKSAG) took part in TVB Jade’s Vital Lifeline special, On the Road with Scoliosis: From Fear to Hope, which aired on 24 June.

The programme featured representative from HKMSHF, orthopaedic specialist Dr Kenny Kwan, patient representatives Ruby and Natalie, and Natalie’s mother Selina, who shared her heartfelt experience supporting her daughter - a story that will resonate with many parents.

Key highlights of the programme include:
• Scoliosis is a three-dimensional spinal curve over 10 degrees, often developing silently during adolescence.
• It can present as uneven shoulders and pelvis, and in severe cases, affect lung and heart function.

In recognition of International Scoliosis Awareness Month this June, the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons (HKCOS) and the Hong Kong Musculoskeletal Health Foundation (HKMSHF) are proud to participate in a four-part orthopaedic series on RTHK Channel 31’s Healthpedia programme.

The first episode, which aired on Monday, 9 June, focused on “Adolescent Scoliosis.” We were honoured to feature Ms. Ruby Wong, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Scoliosis Awareness Group (HKSAG), Ms. Natasa Wong, Vice-Chairperson, and Dr. Adam Lau, Specialist in Orthopaedics and Traumatology, on behalf of HKMSHF. 膝關節係主要支撐身體重量嘅關節，喺各種日常活動、維持平衡同姿勢中擔當重要角色。隨住人口老化, 膝關節經歴長年累月嘅勞損，患上退化性關節炎嘅情況越嚟越普遍。有時候同其他引起膝痛嘅原因譬如痛風、類風濕關節炎 、運動受傷 、關節感染等徵狀相似。以上幾種較為急性嘅關節問題如果冇及時對症下藥診治，亦有機會增加軟骨退化甚至關節變形風險，大大影響活動功能以及生活質素。
即使近年醫療知識及科技發展一日千里，至今依然未有可以有效修復天然關節嘅方法。如果膝關節已有一定程度嘅勞損，經常腫痛，甚至關節僵硬令到活動受阻，患者應該及早就醫，醫生會因應病情同埋個人情況去考慮保守或手術治療。

唔好以為淨係長者需要預防膝關節問題，無論男女老少喺日常生活上多注意姿勢、保持理想體重、避免關節過度負荷以及做適度鍛鍊下肢力量嘅運動都對保護膝關節有長遠幫助。

The knee joint is the main joint that supports our body weight and plays a crucial role in daily activities, balance, and posture. With aging population, degenerative knee osteoarthritis has become increasingly common. Symptoms can also co-exist with other conditions such as gout, rheumatoid arthritis, sports injuries, or joint infections. If these more acute problems are not properly diagnosed and treated in time, they can also increase the risk of cartilage degeneration or even joint deformity.

Despite rapid advances in medical knowledge and technology in the past few decades, we have still not found an effective method to reverse the condition once it has begun. If your knees are already showing signs of wear and tear, with frequent swelling, pain, or stiffness that limits your movement, you should seek medical advice as soon as possible. Doctors will recommend conservative or surgical treatments based on your condition and individual needs.

Don’t make the mistake of assuming only the elderly need to pay attention to preserving their knees! Regardless of age, maintaining good posture, an appropriate weight, avoiding joint overload, and appropriate lower limb strengthening exercises can all help protect your knees in the long run.

【骨科錦囊】肩袖是一組由四條肌肉連接而成的肌腱，負責協調肩部活動。肩袖撕裂 (Rotator Cuff Tear) 是肩關節最常⾒的骨科病症之⼀，病者會有肩部疼痛和乏力的問題。撕裂情度或症狀輕微的患者，可先嘗試非手術治療。以關節鏡或開放式方法進行肩袖撕裂修補手術，可恢復肩袖功能；術後配合物理治療的訓練減少疼痛情況，改善病人的生活質素。
