A little late to post but here it is.
Had a fun filled cooking activity for the first time on 30th April, 2024 with the South Asian elderly group in Hong Kong.
If there is an example for Mindful Eating, then this can be considered as one.

➡️ Made Chickpea Salad with Avocado dip and a hint of South Asian touch.
➡️Beginning from cutting your favourite vegetables to mixing with your favorite seasoning you get to know what you are eating.
➡️This can be a great practice for picky eaters, specially the children.
➡️Moreover can help both adults and children to learn about the specific food groups along with their benefits.
➡️ A great option for vegetarians as well since chickpeas can be a protein source.

**Looking forward to hold more such fun activities, where people can get an opportunity to learn, how to imply changes in their food habits.

Successfully held another session on 1st March 2024, based on 'Nutrition for Diabetes and Hypertension' with the elderly group with The Zubin Foundation. When I started my online nutrition venture 'Heal in a Teaspoon' my motive was to reach out to people from every socioeconomic background. This is why coming in touch with this group of elderly people was extremely fulfilling for me at this stage. Their gratitude towards me end of the session was nothing less than an achievement 🙏.

"Night of Impact" by

It's been a great opportunity to talk about my vision on nutrition and the message I have been trying to deliver through my online platform.
Couldn't be more thankful for such an event taking place.
Had an experience of a lifetime sharing the panel with 3 other great women from the AUW alumni along with , what a wonderful moderator she has been.

The most popular question I get to have in almost every consultation
“Can I get a diet chart for XYZ problem?”

No, that one diet chart will not help as long as you don’t get rid of that one problematic food habit or lifestyle. Identify the root cause and permanently change it to stop the damage.

Not very fond of eating rice?
Amazing to see how this simple and inexpensive food can be so beneficial for us.
Daal or lentil, one of the best sources of complex carbohydrate and plant based protein
Again great for the gut health and weight loss.
Try to increase the amount of daal or lentil in your plate if you are not eating any other form of protein.

Experiencing bloating or acidity after eating it is not the fault of this great food instead it’s how you cook and your overall eating habit.

If you were considering to include oats in your diet you better do it if it suits you. Being a great complex carbohydrate oats can substitute rice as well.

Be it with chia seed or nuts or your favourite nut butter or fruits, have it how you enjoy it.

The best way to eat it is soaking overnight or for few hours before you gulp it up.

The list of benefits 👇🏻
:🍵WEIGHT LOSS
:🍵INFLAMMATION
:🍵GUT HEALTH
:🍵CONTROLLING BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL
:🍵CONTROLS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
:🍵HIGH DIETARY FIBRE
:🍵BLOATING AND EXCESSIVE ACIDITY IN THE STOMACH

Wondering if the chai or coffee is in the good book?

Chai or Tea or Coffee
Be with with the bread or a biscuit or a cookie it’s always a yes for most of us.

Most of us got the habit of drinking caffeine in empty stomach assuming it’s energising.
Exactly this is how you get intolerant to caffeine.
👉🏼Tea with masala or ginger or that espresso is not the real culprit it’s you who made it look like one.

👉🏼Drinking caffeine in empty stomach especially in the morning can cause IBS, heart burn or acid reflux and obviously suppressing hunger.

👉🏼Drinking before meal can increase inflammation in your digestive system or the gut

👉🏼Above all there is no point of fasting or intermittent fasting, or detox drinks or probiotics or any diet if we don’t put a little sense to what we are putting inside us.

👉🏼It’s a great source of antioxidant named Polyphenol hence to prevent the side effects on the long run stop drinking your favourite coffee or tea in an empty stomach

Tempering curries with whole spice 🥘

Tempering curries with natural flavours like Garlic or Garam masala or pepper is a common practice when making South Asian dishes.

Little did we know tempering curries by lightly sautéed spices in ghee/mustard oil /coconut oil had tremendous health benefits such as helping with immunity.

How much water do you think is enough to drink?
Hello there!!
Back after a really long break!
Summer is at its peak time and here I have a post about myths of how much water is just enough!

There is absolutely no specific amount of water which one should drink every day.
For some it might be 10 glasses and for some it could be 20 !!

💧If you drink more than you need your body will naturally excrete it the excess amount
💧If your water intake is too less you will feel thirsty more frequently and have concentrated urine
💧If you stay outside under the sun doing a hectic physical activity you might need to consume drinks to balance your electrolytes other than just water
💧If anyone is diabetic they will feel thirsty way more often than a non diabetic person.
💧The needs are pretty different based on your lifestyle and where you are currently at.

Often do I get asked how much is the right amount of rice or chicken or protein? How much of it are less or excess?

Well the amount is pretty different for each of us. Like I always tell listen to your body whichever treatment/ diet/food you are taking.

Here is how much I usually eat based on my lifestyle and requirements.
🥙1.5 cup of khichudi/ turmeric rice or any rice
🍗2 pieces of chicken
🥘1tbsp of sautéed eggplant with spices
Did I do a thorough analysis and study before predicting?

✌🏼Absolutely not! I know when I am full because the beautiful human body with its hormones and signal gives us the message when to stop and how much is enough for strength🍚
