Bronze Acupuncture Man by 3D Printing HKMMS
One thousand years ago, the Sung .emperor ordered 2 bronze statues to be built with acupuncture points and meridians engraved on it. They accurately recorded the acupuncture points in 3D. 3 of the models were lost in wars and one was now in a museum in St Petersberg, possibly looted during the 8 countries expedition in 1900.
The Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences in Pound Lane opened its Acupuncture Bronze man last month. It was produced by scanning and 3D printing (using bronze). It also had acupuncture points on the surface. If one touches the points with a probe, the tracking system will detect the contact and responded.
This is a good example of Medical Computing.
