2025 was a wild ride… less about work and a bit more about life! We welcome our beautiful daughter to end the year perfectly so I will be attending to my recovery for the next little while!

As we know, there is no set time for healing from any surgery/injury/illness/pregnancy. It all comes down to your individual circumstances, history and needs so I’ll be in touch when I’m ready to go!! Will be looking forward to treating again when it’s safe and appropriate to do so.

Thankyou SO much to everyone who has supported my journey back to the UK and now for all the supportive and super caring messages from my community here. It’s really special… just like London in the snow ❄️ BRB.

TUESDAY Zoom Pilates is to return next week, 1st October so check your emails!!

I’m slowly returning to work from the end of this week (thank goodness I’ve been so bored!) as I reach the 6-week mark on Wednesday- hooray! My Zoom sessions are back to Tuesdays as I try to space out my schedule a little more, still at 8:30am UK time for a 6 week block, recorded in case the time doesn’t suit.

Let me know if you’d like to join or for any further details.

CHANGING HORMONES- please tell your massage therapist!!

So with the controversy around and these classes recently uploaded to my collection for recently I thought it would be a good note for everyone about massage treatments if you use topical hormones!! I’m obviously not qualified to comment on tennis (although I love it!) but I’m not sure people realise about skin transfer of medication.

Some women chose a cream like EstroGel which is applied to the arms as their hormone replacement therapy, it’s not always pessary or pills and this can transfer to your therapist! This could be for etc. and your therapist will not want to be exposed to it.

I have been massaging someone who had recently taken penicillin and, as I am deathly allergic, I started to get a rash just through skin contact from whatever was still left in his system. It was very obvious and quite a quick reaction but thankfully went away later that day.

So please, if you are taking any medication, please tell your therapist, especially if it’s topical and especially if it’s hormonal 🙌🏼 and try out my new classes, obviously!

WEEK 1… post double disc replacement and removal of bone spurs compressing a nerve. Not quite Frankenstein’s monster…

I literally have nothing to show on my recovery yet because the most important part is REST! Doing nothing is HARD but a necessary challenge. Even I’m surprised how much I’ve been sleeping after the lightest activity. I’ve also had *adequate pain relief*… yes I have been taking the dreaded OxyContin because not dealing with the pain severely hinders recovery!! It’s nothing to be all up in arms about if you need it for a few days.

But actually the worst part was/is the muscle spasm caused by the position during surgery and so muscle relaxers have been a big help as well as lots of pillows and rest. I had a big blood pressure spike right after surgery due to the pain in my shoulder muscles- not the surgery itself! Damn I need a massage 🤗 I spent lots of yesterday self-treating my shoulders but truly believe many people would not get hooked on pain meds if they received hands on therapy post surgery/injury as standard. Pain meds don’t work well for muscle pain and it continues to baffle me how this isn’t addressed in the medical community.

(Before and after pics: The disc inbetween also needs replacement but unfortunately that was not possible as the facet joint is already fused due to my AS.)

BLOG UP! Link in bio… Hazmats optional! Wow - so it has actually been over a year since I wrote a blog post, last Easter I was struggling with an AS flare which was pretty severe and I wrote about my current exercise and maintenance routine. This year, it seems the spring has inspired me in a different way and I have made some changes to my work routine. Following another conversation with a dear friend also going though some reassessments (and my coffee machine exploding this morning!), it prompts me to ask; how often do you “spring clean” your life??

It used to be an annual thing for me to sit down with my schedule and really look at what I am doing. I would maybe stop teaching a class that no longer inspired me or maybe there’s that one client who is unreliable or you just aren’t gelling with and need to separate from? In the massage world in particular, it’s such a personal business that the environment I am in and the people I give my energy to is of utmost importance. I don’t see my work as just a therapeutic rub-down, it’s more than that to me. It has to be a holistic experience from start to finish, for me this includes the environment being super clean, comfortable, quiet, private… all the things I really value as a client. Add into that having a chronic illness and *how* I work becomes even more paramount.

HAVE YOU BOOKED YET ?? 👀👀

If you have ever been pregnant, had abdominal surgery, suffer with lower back/hip pain which won’t go away or just don’t understand what to feel when your Yoga/Pilates instructor wants you to engage your pelvic floor- then this workshop is for you.

I have rehabilitated all sorts of injuries but also specialised in Post-natal Pilates classes. Your pelvic health is important and whatever your history, no one should put up with unnecessary pain or dysfunction.

In this workshop, I will help you to understand the anatomy of the pelvis and all the muscles we need think about to train this area properly. There is more to it than you might think but we will make it much easier to understand. All manner of circumstances can affect pelvic function and there is no need to be embarrassed – you will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn simple but truly effective exercises for you to take control going forward and also have time to relax. You will be amazed how much improvement in your posture and overall strength can be achieved though understanding and healing your pelvic floor.

ZOOM PILATES is back this Thursday 11th Jan for 8 weeks!! While it may not be lush and green outside I will try to bring you some sunshine for your joints with my new Zoom course starting this week.

In this 8-week block we will look at the whole original Pilates mat sequence a few exercises at a time and break it down and adapt it to suit you!! Lots of the moves I find to be quite heavy on the spine so if you have bone density concerns don’t worry! Also if you don’t feel super flexible it’s not an issue.

Join me live on line at 8:30am UK time plus enjoy the recording all week! Email me to sign up or DM any questions. See you on the mat! 🧘🏻‍♀️

THIS WEEK! So while there’s always the odd cancellation (which requires 24 hours notice please!!) do book ahead for you massage treatments. This week I have just 2 spots left on Tuesday and one on Wednesday. That’s it!! Rest of the week is full.

To give the very best to everyone I limit my hours over the week- it’s just not physically possible to give GOOD deep tissue work 7 hours a day!

I know lots of people only like to book same day but the truth is you will not get the best service from people who cram in too much or aren’t busy! Appointments at our are clinic are available into the evening with me or Saturday with the guys so no excuse to miss out!

Being consistent with your treatment schedule will massively improve your performance, recovery and overall wellbeing.

Come at 2024 with more
