這棵真柏的特點在於其誇張的天神枝。從底部扭曲的舍利到頂部尖銳的神枝，整個造型模仿了大自然中植物被雷電閃擊後，某些枝條及樹幹自然枯萎而形成的枯木。但植物並不會完全枯萎，而是依靠其他完好的枝條作為水線繼續供給養分，生存下去。

這棵真柏的特點在於其主幹上的扭曲，以及左邊削減的枝葉作為神枝與右邊的枝葉作誇張對比，呈現出一枯一榮的造型。這種創作模仿了大自然中的樹木，經風吹雨打或被雷電擊後某些枝條及樹幹自然枯萎，但植物並不會完全枯萎，而是依靠其他完好的枝條作為水線繼續供給養分，生存下去。

這棵三河黑松雖說是文人風格，但其主幹及出枝已相當粗壯，猶如一雙強而有力的手臂。另一欣賞角度為黑松鱗甲狀片，整棵樹幹都累積了豐厚的鱗甲紋理層狀，充分體現了山採獨有的魅力。而辨別黑松是山採或人工培育的一大分別，就在於觀察其鱗片的大小。通常山採的黑松鱗片會比較大片且豐厚，宜人工培育的黑松鱗片則比較細小。而鱗片層需經過長年累月慢慢積累起來，越粗的片層代表樹齡越老。此外，這棵黑松的神枝及少許提根造型亦為整體樹型增添色彩。

這棵黑松是從幼苗開始由人工培育逾百年的樹木。其特點在於「八方根爪」——培育「根爪」是極其耗時且艱難的過程，需要經年累月從盆器中培養才能養出根爪之態。市面上大多數黑松少有根爪，即便有根爪亦未必能達「八方」之境。「八方」於盆景藝術中意指「四平八穩」的完美根盤格局，在傳統審美中既罕見又蘊含深意。賞析松樹的另一角度在於樹皮的鱗甲狀肌理，以及枝條分佈的疏密韻律。
