Does the cold weather actually hurt your feet or ankles?

It is common to feel tightness in your feet and ankles during winter, so here are a few tips we suggest to help:
1️⃣ Wear supportive shoes indoors (not just socks)
2️⃣ Elevate your feet during long seated periods
3️⃣ Use a warm water soak followed by gentle mobility work

But if stiffness and pain are not improving with movement, it may be time to check in. Our team can assess what's going on and support you with podiatry and physiotherapy to help keep you moving more comfortably through winter.

Book online or contact our friendly team to make your appointment.

Closed shoes 🤝 Damp socks = Winter’s perfect storm for fungal nail infections.

🦠 When feet stay warm and moist inside enclosed footwear, fungi thrive - especially in colder months. Add sweaty gym shoes or forgetting to change damp socks, and the risk rises fast.

Read our blog to learn how to spot early signs, stop the spread, and why home remedies often fall short.

It makes sense that we treat pain where we feel it - but sometimes the root cause is further down.

Poor foot mechanics, flat arches or imbalances in how you walk or run can place extra strain further up the body, especially in the knees, hips and lower back.

At Hong Kong Foot Clinic, our sports podiatrists assess how you move from the ground up. With the right insights and support, they can help identify contributing factors and provide strategies to optimise your movement day to day. 👣

Cooler weather means drier air and your skin feels it, especially on your heels. Open-back slippers, walking barefoot on hard floors, and spending long hours on your feet can all exacerbate cracked heels during winter.

A few simple habits can help: switch to enclosed slippers, moisturise daily and avoid hot showers, which strip away the skin’s natural oils. If cracks become deep, sore or show signs of infection, it’s time to seek professional care.

Already noticing cracked or painful heels? Visit our website and book at 👉 https://hongkongfootclinic.hk/our-services/podiatry/

Our podiatrists can assess your feet, manage painful heels and develop a tailored plan to support your foot health.

Plantar warts spread easily in shared spaces like gyms and pools, and once they’re on your feet - they can spread even more and become very painful.

The best approach? Stop them before they start or treat them early with help from your podiatrist.
