Many people don't know babies and pre/post natal woman can greatly benefit from massage therapy and chiropractic treatments.

For both Mamas and babies, it is imperative to seek these types of treatments from Registered/Licensed practitioners who can provide safe and effective treatments!

For babies, from colic (gas), to constipation and issues with sleeping, our massage therapists can greatly assist in this, and teach the parents how they can do this at home as well.

For pre/post natal women, massage can provide many benefits including:

-relieve tension headaches,
-relieve muscle and joint pain,
-relieve lower back, leg, and other musculoskeletal pain,
-reduce symptoms of anxiety,
-reduce swelling in the feet and ankles,
and promotes better sleep.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, book in a session with us. We are happy to help!

13/06/2019

Trigger point therapy (sometimes called myofascial pain therapy) was developed as a method of treating pain that originates in muscles. Trigger points are areas of hypersensitivity that occur in bands of muscle tissue. These tender areas appear in consistent patterns and have been mapped and studied and proven through modern science to exist. There are three types of trigger points:

Active – An active trigger point is one that is painful, even when the patient is at rest.
Latent – A patient may not realize that a latent trigger point hurts, until someone finds it and touches it. Latent trigger points often refer pain to other areas of the body. The points of referral have been mapped as well, so someone well-versed in trigger points will know where to look for a latent trigger point based on where the pain is occurring.
Satellite – Trigger points act as a web in some ways. A latent trigger point may be referring pain to another area of the body, causing an active trigger point to develop there. The active trigger point, in turn, could be referring pain to a third area which is known as a satellite trigger point.

Cont'd 3 of 3 series

Mid back, external shoulder rotator cuff muscles, and side torso muscles often become long and weak position in this position when done so for prolonged periods.

Muscles often effected include rhomboids (between shoulder blades), serratus anterior (side of torso), and middle, lower and lats (middle&side back)

Symptoms include:
-Pain or discomfort in the mid back or between the shoulder blades,
-Tingling down the arms,
-Difficulties holding shoulders down and back
-Difficulties pushing or pulling doors open
-Difficulties doing pull downs or pull ups

In images 3 & 4, we have May Lee, 🏌️‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏄‍♀️Sports Massage Therapist⛹️‍♀️🏋️‍♀️🧗‍♀️🤼‍♂️ from our clinic, demonstrating easy isotonic and isometric exercises to strengthen the back and upper. side torso muscles. All exercises should be done in pain free range. Back muscles will fatigue and allow for min 30-45 seconds rest between sets. If you are experiencing pain, decrease repetitions and shorten range, and if pain persists, discontinue.

Image 3 - isotonic lower trapezius and latissimus dorsi endurance strengthening exercises. Engage core, breathe normally and focus on Slowly lowering both arms into 'L-Shape' (2 seconds x 15) x 3

Image 4- Isometric rhomboid endurance strengthening exercises. Engage core, breathe normally, flatten back against wall, bend elbows 90° and gentle push elbows against wall (5seconds x 5) × 3 angles (next set 1/2 - 1 inch from wall)

To follow: Video: isotonic serratus anterior endurance strengthening exercises
Hold shoulder in neutral position, arm extended and gently push arm forward towards a wall. (2seconds x 15) x 3

Try these simple back exercises and correct any signs of upper cross syndrome. Let us know how they are working for you and if you enjoyed our three part series
