Happy World Sleep Day!
We all know that having a good night’s sleep is very important to us. Having a poor one can lead to various problems such as health issues, impairment of our body’s immunity, and can even cause severe depression! I am sure we are all aware that we should sleep well, but some of us do find it difficult to even get a decent one.
Fret not! As we are gearing up towards a restful weekend, here are some tips to sleep better…
1. Reduce caffeine intake during the day (best to stop having them by late afternoon).
2. Avoid taking alcohol before bed.
3. Do not consume large meal nearing bed time.
4. Do practice consistent sleeping and waking-up time.
5. Try not to have irregular or long daytime naps.
6. Take a relaxing warm bath before bed.
7. Clear you mind and relax more in the evening (listen to music, read a book, use aromatherapy, meditation, etc)
8. Optimize your bedroom environment (eliminate external light and noise).
9. Set an ideal room temperature for sleep (around 20 degrees Celsius is best for most people).
10. Rule out any sleep disorder such as insomnia or sleep apnea (talk to your doctor about this).
With these tips, I hope you can get a better night’s sleep and be more well rested. Good night…
