Toxicity in the workplace is a real issue that is prevalent in Asia.

What counts as toxicity you may wonder…

Sometimes I have also inherited this Asian toxicity to the point where bluntness is the only way of communicating.

There is all sorts of toxicity. People often don’t feel empowered to speak up or speak out against it as we are somehow expected to be beholden to our employers. The power dynamics are in place to scare people into subservience, to be ok to be talked down to, to be treated with disrespect and yet be expected to put up with it simply because it is your boss.

The tolerance and acceptance for such behaviour and treatment from above is a lot less in the western, more civilised and more advanced world.

Employee wellness and rights are a lot more advanced overseas. I know because I used to work overseas before moving to Asia 10 years ago and observing such lopsided relationships at work. Asians simply don’t realise that they do not need to fear for their lives if they were to speak up.

Sadly, this topic opens up a much bigger and wider topic that transcends into the realms of politics, which we all know here in HK, now is taboo.

So, is there real hope for progress in Asia… I am not talking about progress in terms of having the “hardware”, the tall buildings, the fast lifts, the glossy chandeliers, the fastest machines…

I am talking about progress in terms of mindset, progressiveness in paradigm, serious evolution of our society into one that is truly evolved and capable of being more sophisticated beyond the superficiality of appearances, Prada handbags and ci**rs.

Dee Dream Life was founded by Dee Oh, a Zumba, Pound Fit, Hatha Yoga/Yoga Nidra instructor, life coach and spiritual healer who left her career in investment banking to pursue her dream of helping people to achieve their dream life and maximum potential through better health, fitness and wellness across the body, mind and spirit.

Dee is passionate about ensuring high quality, fun and effective services are accessible to all and not just the elites of the society. She keeps a close watch of her students' wellbeing in all aspects of their life and, thus Dee Dream Life provides a unique holistic health solution for the body, mind and spirit. Dee motivates students to work harder to improve in their practice of dance, fitness and yoga while getting more fit and balanced with her energetic and fun routines in a positive environment.

Aside from her work with students, Dee also devotes a significant amount of time and energy to coach and mentor other aspiring instructors to bring out their maximum potential in their career.
