由於我女女半歲開始一直受到濕疹問題困擾，那時我開始學製冷製手工皂，希望能改善佢既濕疹，其間與朋友們分享後效果很好，並鼓勵我開始這助人自助的生意，現在Yannie Soap已經成立第十二年了，而這名字亦以女女名而起。

Just some feelings I needed to let out. 😔

After living in Tai Po for more than twenty years, I’ve honestly never been able to remember all the names of the public housing estates there. 😢 Some of them I can’t even recall anymore.
Until the incident happened, I didn’t even know that “those few buildings” were called Wang F*k Court. 😔

But for me, “those few buildings” have always symbolised one thing:
“There it is — I’m nearly home.”

When I was young, I loved renting bikes with my friends in Tai Po Market. We would cycle all the way from Tai Po to Tai Wai and back. Whenever we rode through that tunnel in Tai Po Market and saw “those few buildings”, we’d get excited and pedal hard — we were finally leaving Tai Po for the trip!

And on the way back, by the time we reached Tolo Highway we were usually exhausted. But the moment we saw “those few buildings” from a distance, we could tell ourselves, “There they are — I’m nearly home!” Then we’d push ourselves a bit more, keeping our eyes on “those few buildings”, and keep pedalling. 😔

When I grew older, every time I took the 271 back home from the city, I usually had to stand all the way until Tai Po. At that moment on the bus, I would always look forward to seeing “those few buildings” — because once they came into sight, the stop would be right next, the bell would sound, and I could finally sit down. (That was always the stop where the most people got off.) 😔

Later, when I became a parent, I’d encourage my children the same way when we cycled together:
“Look over there at ‘those few buildings’. Once you reach them, that’s the finish line!”

This disaster is heartbreaking — so many dead and injured, hundreds of families left without a home. Some of my primary and secondary school classmates still live there (they’ve all reported safe). 😭

For someone like me, now living far away from my hometown, this tragedy feels as if part of my heart has been burnt away — I can’t quite tell whether it’s memories, a sense of connection, or that feeling of what “home” used to mean. All that’s left is a kind of pain… a pain that cuts deep. 😣😣😣

A completely preventable tragedy — entirely man-made. 😭
