HKAST 12 月有新活動！這次誠意邀請大家一起看一套用了長達7年時間拍攝的紀錄片，真實逞現數位自閉症學童的生活情況，讓大家深入了解自閉症人士及其家屬的心路歷程。我們很榮幸邀請到導演及監製蕭惠雄先生出席映後分享會，他將會在電影播放後與觀眾交流及分享創作理念和拍攝時的感受。

電影簡介：
聞說，高能力的沉默和俊男美女往往跟自閉者有關。 一眾大學老師和同學七年前憑着一片赤子之心，分別從生活捕捉此境况！事實卻令人始料不及，自閉的同學居然有些「智慧」不但超出常人，亦令不同任教的老師竭盡所能去培養各人！然而，社會卻不善待差異者，他們的前途渺茫，令人沮喪，故事娓娓道出自閉者的內心世界，用感覺去繪圖，七年下來，大家居然創造了一奇異而又難忘的旅程，令人笑中有涙。

HKAST will be giving out movie tickets to “The Normal Exceptional”, a movie that takes a different look at the journey of Autism. We are also happy to have the Director Mark Siu joining us for sharing after the screening.

As the local epidemic situation remains severe, to protect Brighten's therapists and clients, and to reduce the flow of people and social contact in the community as much as possible, the following arrangements are currently in place:

1. Individual in-person services are provided with limited capacity. All parents are encouraged to switch to online sessions. Pair-up and group sessions will continue to be suspended.
2. Our therapists will be arranged to work from home for days that there are no in-person sessions. Work hours at the centre are also flexible, hence there may not be anyone to answer the telephone sometimes. Please feel free to leave us a message or contact us by WhatsApp at 2786-1611.
3. All therapists will use the rapid antigen tests at home daily to monitor their health conditions. Therapists have to successively obtain negative test results before reporting to work at the centre.

We will closely monitor the situation and review the above arrangements in about 2 weeks. Take care!

因應疫情非常嚴峻，為保護本中心的治療師及學生，並減少社區的人流和社交接觸，本中心正採取以下措施：
1. 提供有限度面授服務，建議所有家長盡量改至網上授課。小組課程將繼續暫停。
2. 治療師盡量留在家中工作，只會在有面授課程才會回中心。因上班時間彈性，如未能致電本中心，請留言或以WhatsApp 2786－1611與我們聯絡。
3. 為監察各人健康狀況，治療師會每天在家進行快速測，取得陰性測試結果後才可回中心上班。

以上安排暫定實行兩星期，本中心會繼續密切留意疫情發展，適時檢視情況。

As the government just announced for all schools to have their summer holiday brought forward to March-April, to assist children with their learning and to provide continuous support for their speech-language and communication development amid this pandemic, our centre will be offering an online speech therapy program.

Details:
1. 8 individual sessions, 45 minutes each
2. Speech therapy will be conducted via ZOOM
3. Sessions will be performed by qualified speech therapists, and the same speech therapist will be responsible for each child's program.
4. Flexible session time can be arranged
5. All sessions must be completed on or before 30/4/2022

Fees:
$3600HKD ($450/session). No refund.

由於政府剛宣布學校提前於3月至4月放暑假，為支援孩子於疫情及放假期間能持續學習及得到言語溝通發展上的協助 ，本中心將會提供以網上授課的言語治療訓練課程。

內容：

2. 以視像軟件ZOOM進行網上治療
3. 合資格言語治療師負責，而每次會由固定的言語治療師上課
4. 上課時間可彈性安排

Research shows that:
🔎 The parts of the brain that control movements for speech are different from those that control nonspeech movements in NSOMEs
🔎 NSOMEs are IRRELEVANT to speech improvements

Our advice:
💡 Making progress with NSOMEs is not relevant with making progress with speech sounds
💡 If children need to improve speech, then they MUST work on speech
💡 NSOMEs probably won’t do harm to a child, but why not spend the time on practising the actual sounds?

Online information should be taken with a pinch of salt and the best would be to consult a speech-language therapist if you have any questions!

Building toys are great for promoting creativity and imagination, but they are also great for developing language and communication skills!

🧱 Early words and vocabulary
• When you place a block on top of another, say ‘up’, ‘more’, or ‘on’
• When the tower is built, say ‘ready, steady ... DOWN!’
• You can have possession of the blocks and encourage your child to ask for more by saying ‘more’ or ‘please’

🧱 Basic concepts
• Talk about colours, shapes, sizes and locations

🧱 Social and attention skills
• Spend quality time with your child on the same activity for bonding
• Follow your child’s lead and copy what they are building
• Take turns putting a block on the tower
• Discuss what to build and work together! Could be a house for Peppa Pig, a carriage for a horse, or even a dinosaur

For older kids who outgrow basic blocks/bricks? Try Lego sets!

🧱 Following instructions
• Read the instruction manual together
• Find especially shaped pieces
• Follow the sequence and put the custom set together

What if they get bored of custom sets? Go back to the basics! Build anything in whatever way they want it!

With the current situation of increasing covid-19 cases, our centre will continue to reinforce safety measures for clients arriving at the Centre.

We will ensure the surfaces and materials used during therapy sessions would be sanitized after each use and regularly throughout the day.

If you have had close contact with anyone diagnosed, please let us know ASAP and session will have to be cancelled.
