【 #寵物情報課 夏日炎炎 ☀️ 提防寵物中暑風險】

天熱炎熱加上環境焗促，小動物嘅中暑機會大增，一唔小心更可能出現休克，危害比人類更易出現 🥵！如果係狗狗就要更加特別留意，因為佢哋汗腺唔多，散熱能力有限 ♨️～

💡 VSH 為各位主人準備咗以下 6 項寵物防中暑貼士，值得大家 bookmark 注意：

1️⃣ 選擇氣溫較低嘅時段散步，譬如清晨或黃昏；同時都要注意石屎地溫度，以免灼傷手掌腳掌🐾
2️⃣ 保持小動物水分充足，隨身帶水供飮用；
3️⃣ 室內冷氣保持約 26–27°C，確保寵物涼快；
4️⃣ 千祈唔好將毛孩獨留喺車內，即使短短幾分鐘，都可能會出事；
5️⃣ 用手觸摸佢哋腋下、大腿內側、耳內側，觀察有冇異常熱感；

【 ☀️ Beat the Heat: Summer Safety Tips for Pets】

Hot weather and stuffy environments significantly increase the risk of heatstroke in pets 🥵. Dogs are especially vulnerable due to their limited ability to sweat and cool themselves ♨️.

💡 VSH has prepared 6 essential summer tips to help pet parents keep their furry friends safe:

1️⃣ Choose cooler times of the day to walk your pets. Early morning or evening is recommended. Also, pay attention to the temperature of the concrete floor to avoid burning their paws 🐾
2️⃣ Keep your pets hydrated. Always bring water when going out,
3️⃣ Maintain indoor temperatures around 26–27°C to keep pets comfortable,
4️⃣ Never leave pets alone in a car, even for a few minutes,
5️⃣ Check their body heat by touching armpits, inner thighs, or ears, and
6️⃣ Examine their gums for paleness, which may show a sign of heatstroke or circulatory issues.

無論係國際硏討定本地講堂，VSH 持續堅守信念，以實用為本、患者為先，裝備業界共同前行 🤝。喺過去嘅五月，我哋嘅專科獸醫團隊再次走入唔同場域，分享實戰經驗、推動行業進步 👣！

👁️‍🗨️ 首先喺月中，VSH 眼科專科獸醫 周威賢醫生 受邀前往上海，聯同來自中國、馬來西亞及印尼嘅獸醫講師，主持為期三日嘅講座同工作坊，並提供實操機會，助學員掌握臨牀應用技巧 📝。

🧠 而我哋嘅神經科專科獸醫 羅俊笙醫生 則於月尾喺香港舉辦 #腦部疾病 專題講座，透過多個真實案例，帶領獸醫由症狀入手，逐步拆解診斷、定位及治療方案。喺教授理論嘅同時，講座亦強調活用 #臨床推理 思維去應對各種病情，幫助前線獸醫掌握神經科嘅臨床節奏 🧩。

👨‍⚕️ 此外，VSH 獸醫 游天行醫生 於早前亦參與 舉辨嘅「To Be a Veterinarian – Taster Programme for Vet Study」，為有志成為獸醫嘅學生提供五天體驗課程，幫助年青一代深入了解獸醫行業及國際 #升學途徑 🎓。

【Knowledge in Action 🔗 May Recap】

From international workshops to local lectures, VSH continues to uphold our belief in practical, patient-focused veterinary education 🤝. This May, our specialist team delivered impactful teaching and fostered professional growth across borders 👣!

👁️‍🗨️ In early May, Dr Derek Chow, VSH Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology, was invited to lead a 3-day workshop in Shanghai, alongside speakers from China, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Attendees also gained hands-on experience in eyelid surgery and corneal grafting 📝.

🧠 In the end of May, Dr Josep Brocal, VSH Neurology Specialist, hosted a lecture on diseases using real clinical cases to guide vets through symptom presentation, diagnosis, localisation, and treatment. Emphasising , his approach helped demystify neurology by mirroring real-life practice—step by step 🧩.

👨‍⚕️ Additionally, VSH Veterinarian Dr Felix Yau participated in the ‘To Be a Veterinarian – Taster Programme for Vet Study’ by previously, leading a 5-day experiential course for students aspiring to become veterinarians. The programme covered introduction, , , workshops, and insights into international pathways 🎓.

【💮 櫻花盛開 狗狗莫愛 🙅】

初春來時 🌱，綻放嘅粉色花海，為多區帶嚟滿滿和風!! 賞花漫步固然浪漫 💕，但各位狗主人又知唔知 ☣️ #櫻花 其實對狗狗有毒？

🌿 首先，枯葉、樹皮、種子同未開嘅花朶 含有 #氰化物，進入狗狗體內會轉化為 #氰化氫，影響細胞帶氧，導致 屙嘔、缺氧、身體乏力甚至 癲癇；
🌸 #花粉 #芳香化合物（苯類、醛類） 亦可能引致過敏（打噴嚏、流眼水、皮膚痕）、呼吸困難 或 嗅覺系統刺激，極少數狗狗可能會焦躁、流口水；
🌳 此外，樹脂、樹膠（樹幹受損時分泌）帶有 #酚類，亦可能引起愛寵腸胃不適，或黏住而刺激皮毛；
🍂 亦要留意腐爛嘅花葉含有 #細菌 #霉菌毒素，狗狗舔食後可能會有 腸胃炎、腹瀉 或 中毒！

要避免上述風險，大家帶狗狗去郊遊、行山、去公園時，請務必 ✅：
🦮 拉實狗帶，避免毛孩亂咬樹木同落葉；
🧹 清理地面殘留嘅花瓣、樹枝，防止誤食；
🐾 規劃出行路線，避免花粉較多嘅環境；
🚑 如果懷疑狗狗接觸或食咗櫻花，應立即向獸醫求助！

【💮 Cherry Blossoms Are Beautiful—But Dangerous for Dogs 🙅】

As spring arrives 🌱, some areas of our town are painted in dreamy shades of pink. While make for a perfect scenic walk 💕, did you know ☣️ these blossoms are actually toxic to dogs?

🌿 The leaves, bark, seeds, and unopened buds contain that release when ingested. This can block oxygen absorption, leading to vomiting, hypoxia, weakness, or even seizures.
🌸 (benzene, aldehydes) can trigger allergic reactions (sneezing, watery eyes, itchy skin), respiratory distress, or olfactory irritation. A few dogs may become restless or drool excessively.
🌳 Tree sap & resin, which oozes when the bark is damaged, contains that may cause digestive upset or stick to fur, causing irritation.
🍂 Rotten leaves & flowers may carry & toxins, leading to gastroenteritis, diarrhoea, or poisoning if licked or eaten.

To keep your pup safe this cherry blossom season, make sure to ✅:
🦮 Keep your dog on a leash and prevent them from chewing on trees or fallen leaves.
🧹 Clear away any petals and twigs on the ground to avoid accidental ingestion.
🐾 Plan your walking routes to avoid areas with heavy pollen.
🚑 Seek veterinary help immediately if you suspect your dog has ingested cherry blossoms!
