✨ C.E.C. Highlights of the Week! ✨📸

This week was full of learning, joy, and culture at Cattleya Educational Center! 💙🌈

🎉 We proudly celebrated “Día del Indio”, a special day in Honduras that honors our indigenous roots and teaches students the value of cultural identity, respect for history, and pride in diversity. Everyone wore handmade feathered crowns and came together to celebrate the rich traditions that shape our beautiful country. ❤️💛💚

🧠✏️ Throughout the week, our students were busy with hands-on learning and structured play!
🎨 We practiced color sorting, fine motor skills, and shape recognition using colorful manipulatives.
✍️ Worked on handwriting and literacy through guided tracing.
📅 Updated our classroom calendar while learning about the days of the week and daily structure.
🔢 Strengthened math concepts through counting, patterning, and visual matching.
🎭 Engaged in occupational therapy games to boost communication, independence, and teamwork.

📚✨ And our Rising Bloomers group had a special homework challenge! Each child picked one book to take home, read with their family, and then returned to class to share what they learned with their peers. A fun and meaningful way to build reading comprehension and confidence!
It’s always incredible to see our students engaged, growing, and having fun in a space made just for them.❤️

🌟 A glimpse into our week at C.E.C.! 🌟

From sensory exploration and bubble science to hands-on learning, math practice, and collaborative art — our students continue to grow, play, and thrive in a space filled with curiosity and care. 💡✨

🧠 Functional learning is at the heart of every activity. Whether it’s building with colorful pegs, solving math problems, painting with straws, or strengthening fine motor skills with kinetic sand — every moment is a step forward.

👫 Our team is proud to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where every student, regardless of age or ability, is celebrated for who they are and what they can do.

🎨 We’ve also launched new group activities this month, including STEM crafts and team sensory sessions. The laughter, focus, and teamwork speak for themselves!

Thank you to all our families and supporters who make this possible. We’re growing together, one colorful moment at a time. 💜

A Belated but Beautiful Mother’s Day Tribute

At Cattleya Education Center, Mother’s Day is a cherished celebration — a time to honor the love, strength, and dedication of all the incredible mothers in our community.

Throughout the week leading up to May 9, our students were busy preparing gifts straight from the heart: decorated plant pots, handcrafted keychains and bracelets, and special songs rehearsed with love. On the big day, our entire school came together to celebrate.

Our amazing teachers helped prepare a beautiful lunch, and we hosted all kinds of fun games and activities to make the day extra special for the moms. It was a joyful event, filled with laughter, connection, and gratitude.

More than just a celebration, Mother’s Day at CEC is a tribute to the very foundation of our school. Over a decade ago, five brave and determined mothers saw a gap in support for children with special needs in Roatán. Instead of waiting for change, they created it — founding Cattleya Education Center so that every child could have access to love, learning, and opportunity.

To every mom in our community: thank you. You are the heartbeat of CEC. You inspire us daily, and we are forever grateful for your strength, love, and the legacy you continue to build.

Happy (belated) Mother’s Day — we celebrate you, always.

Guiding Hands, Growing Minds:
A Week at CEC🌺📚✏️✨☀️

At Cattleya Educational Center, every day is filled with intentional moments that help our students grow through personalized support and adaptive learning.

This week, our Special Care Technicians and instructors worked hand-in-hand with each
child across different areas of development:

• Early Literacy & Tactile Learning:
One of our students practiced spelling his name “José” using pipe cleaners to form textured letters. This multisensory technique helps build name recognition, fine motor coordination, and early writing skills—essential building blocks for independence.

• Music & Social Engagement:
Our Rising Bloomers explored handbells in a colorful music circle. These guided music activities improve attention span, emotional regulation, and social turn-taking—while giving our students a fun and empowering way to express themselves.

• Academic Foundations:
In quiet, focused moments, students practiced counting, tracing, and early numeracy using adaptive worksheets and visual tools that match their individual learning pace.

• Gross Motor & Physical Coordination: With arms wide and determination on her face, one of our students worked on her balance and coordination on a low beam—boosting physical awareness, confidence, and strength.

Behind every picture is the support of a trained, compassionate Special Care Technician ensuring each child is seen, supported, and celebrated.

To wrap up this meaningful week, our entire team came together to celebrate International Workers’ Day with a well-deserved staff lunch. At CEC, we recognize the heart and hard work of our team—their dedication is what makes our mission possible.

Together, we are more than a school.
We are a community, a family, and a place where every ability has potential.

After a wonderful Semana Santa break, we are so excited to be back at the Center, recharged and ready for an incredible term ahead!

This week, we celebrated Earth Day in a special way — every student created a beautiful, colorful artwork to honor our planet, which they proudly brought home to share with their families. Their creativity and care for the environment truly shined through!🌎☀️🌸

Our Rising Bloomers group had an especially exciting week, diving into different real-life scenarios through acting, role-playing, and costumes. It was incredible to see them develop their communication and problem-solving skills while having so much fun.🎭🎬

We also welcomed back our Case Manager, Emma Johnston, who spent the week reconnecting with our students and bringing even more energy and support to our daily activities. The smiles and laughter were contagious!

Meanwhile, our adult program has been busy designing and creating beautiful decorations, with the goal of selling their handmade work in the near future. Their focus and dedication have been inspiring to watch.🎨🖌️

We are so proud of all of our students for starting the new term with such enthusiasm. Here’s to a season of growth, creativity, and endless possibilities!🌺🩷☀️🌸🌼

The most honorable task and mission I've ever had is to be part of a Board of Directors of an organization that shows the world how skilled people can be and become when they get a facilitated and tailored education and training. It has changed my attitude, and I won't even call them disabled anymore!

At Cattleya Education Center, we receive some students without language who, after some months, are able to talk and sing. Our employees break the codes together with the parents and next of kin, and our students show that they are capable of doing way more than anyone assumed.

Follow us on our journey to show the world their capability. That might change your attitude as well!

Roger
The President of the Board of Directors

Every small moment is a big step forward. 🌸

At Cattleya Educational Center, we focus on building independence, confidence, and joy in every child and adult we work with. Whether it’s learning to hold a pencil, preparing a snack, solving a puzzle, or expressing creativity through art, each activity is intentionally chosen to support developmental, emotional, and social growth.

As Special Care Technicians, our job goes beyond teaching—we guide, encourage, and adapt. We meet our participants where they are and walk beside them, celebrating every win, no matter how small.

These photos capture just a few of the beautiful moments from this week:
• Tracing letters and forming language foundations
• Practicing fine motor skills with a puzzle
• Engaging in sensory and artistic expression
• Learning daily living skills like preparing food
• Building social-emotional understanding through interactive activities

This is what inclusive, compassionate, and personalized education looks like.

Thank You to the Rotary Club of Roatan, Utila & Guanaja (RUG)!

This week, we were happy to welcome visitors from North America who brought along much-needed educational and sensory materials for our students—items we had requested through Amazon. We’re incredibly grateful for their support!

A special thank you to the Rotary Club of Roatan, Utila & Guanaja (RUG) for organizing a fun and engaging craft activity with our adult program, Flourishing Orchids. It was a great afternoon full of creativity, connection, and laughter.

We are currently working on setting up an official Amazon Wish List so supporters can easily donate items we need to continue running our programs. Stay tuned. —your support helps us grow and improve every day.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Cattleya’s mission.

Recap of March 21 | World Down Syndrome Day at Cattleya 💛💙

For the third year in a row, we were so grateful to welcome our local law enforcement officers to Cattleya Educational Center to celebrate this special day with our Growing Sprouts and Rising Bloomers!

👮‍♀️ Our students and police officers worked side by side on a colorful sensory activity, using paint and handprints to create posters in honor of World Down Syndrome Day. The room was filled with laughter, creativity, and connection.

These visits are more than just fun—they’re a chance for our students to learn about real-life community roles, and for police to experience what we teach at Cattleya every day.

❤️ We believe that no child should ever feel fear when they see a police officer. By building positive relationships, we empower our students to feel safe, supported, and confident in advocating for themselves.

This is something we hope to continue, as well as potentially working with new community partners who share our mission of inclusion, education, and growth.

Thank you to our local police team for your continued support—you are making a difference!
