🌍 Med&X Accelerator | Summer 2025 Success Story

👩🏻‍⚕️ We are incredibly proud to share that Sara Bonet (), a final-year student at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, School of Medicine, participated in the Med&X Accelerator 2025 student exchange program — an experience that has now led to an extraordinary achievement.

🧠 Following her exchange, Sara has been accepted for a two-year research fellowship at Mayo Clinic, within the Department of Neurology, Division of Neuroimmunology. During her fellowship, she will focus on research in Multiple Sclerosis and autoimmune neurological diseases at one of the world’s most prestigious medical institutions.

👨🏻‍⚕️👩🏻‍⚕️ Filip Jakov Klisović, a medical student at the University of Zagreb (.unizg), School of Medicine (.unizg), and Katarina Kordić, a medical student at the University of Split (.hr), School of Medicine (.hr), completed their Med&X Accelerator clinical internship by at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, within the Division of .

🫀 The Cleveland Clinic Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute is consistently ranked 1st in cardiology and heart surgery worldwide, setting global standards in cardiovascular care, research, and education. During their internship, Filip and Katarina gained invaluable clinical exposure at one of the most prestigious cardiology centers in the world. 🔥

😎 Dora Softić (.softic), a medical student at the University of Zagreb, School of Medicine (.unizg), completed a summer internship through the Med&X Accelerator program at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, USA, within the Division of Neuroimmunology, during August–September 2025.

💪🏻 The Division of Neuroimmunology at MGH is a world-leading center focused on understanding immune mechanisms of neurological diseases, translating cutting-edge research into improved diagnostics and therapies.

😎 Dejana Vujnović (.vujnovic), a final-year student at the University of Rijeka (), Faculty of Biotechnology and Drug Development, participated in the Med&X Accelerator summer internship by at the , Department of Biochemistry, in Perica Lab UZH under the mentorship of Tina Perica, PhD.

💪🏻 During her stay, Dejana joined a rapidly developing research group working at the interface of biochemistry and systems biology, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic, international scientific environment.

🌍 Med&X Accelerator | Summer 2025 Student Exchange

😎 Stela Lara Tenšek (.tensek), a final-year student from the University of Split (.hr), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (), participated in a research exchange at Yale University through the Med&X Accelerator program.

💪🏻 In 2025, Yale joined the program for the first time, enabling the first participation of a psychology student from Croatia. Stela conducted research at the Yale Child Study Center and the Creativity and Emotions Lab (Yale School of Medicine) under the mentorship of Zorana Ivcevic Pringle, PhD, contributing to the project “Mirror to the World.”

🔥 Her experience also included attending international conferences, psychology courses, and hands-on work in research design and data analysis. Her collaboration with Yale continues through joint research and upcoming international presentations.

This year again, the Med&X Association is opening doors to some of the world’s top academic and clinical institutions for through the Med&X Accelerator program — especially those in the biomedical fields. 🧑🏻‍⚕️🔬

Through this initiative, 12 Croatian students spent part of their summer at institutions such as MIT, Yale, Harvard Medical School, and the Cleveland Clinic, where they developed new skills, gained mentorship, and built international professional connections. ✨🌎
