Revision breast surgery can be VERY challenging and substantial expertise is essential to obtain an optimal result. It may be that the surgical plane needs to be modified or lipofilling added to the implant exchange in order to minimise visibility of the implant edges (called rippling). Sometimes, a mastopexy needs to be performed at the same instance if "waterfall deformity" develops with time. A capsulectomy is also a must in case of a severe capsular contraction, when implants are removed and are/not substituted for a new one.
At any rate, it is important to find a plastic surgeon who is not only capable but experienced enough to predict what the best options would be in each specific case.

This beautiful patient of mine was unhappy and uncomfortable with the result of her previous surgery (performed elsewhere) and came to me hoping for a more natural look and feel of her breasts.
After a total capsulectomy (of a double capsule on both sides) and recreation of the new pocket (no, we did NOT cut her muscle!), a more natural looking torso is achieved by adding much softer 215cc Ergonomix Demi , putting the ni***es in a better position with a mastopexy, while further narrowing the cleavage lines will be tackled as a second stage with lipofilling.

Mini is the new black 🖤

Most of my patients come with the wish to create a more balanced silhouette rather than ask for big volumes. And I couldn't agree more with the concept because it gives you the most natural outcome and it respects your body proportion to maintain the most lasting result.

What is an ideal result?
Do you always have to have exactly every procedure that your surgeon offers you?
Or can you decide to do it staged in 2 different surgeries, if you additionally decide you want to correct any remaining issue that you didn't think would bother you initially?
The answer to all these is - it depends on YOU and your expectations!
Sometimes, as surgeons, we see issues that might not bother you as a patient. Oftentimes, we want to create as symmetrical results as possible. Most of the time, our idea of an "ideal breast" is not the same. And in some cases, there are limitations as to what is actually possible to achieve.
But what matters most is that your surgeon listens to you, understands your concerns and has the ability to achieve the results you're hoping for.

My beautiful patient had a very short lower breast pole, a long torso, an asymmetry in breast volume, a difference in skin sagging and very low body fat.
Ideally, I wanted to perform an augmentation mastopexy (uplift + implants) with lipofilling.
She decided she will only have at this time. And she was not wrong!
The additional procedures can be done (or not) at any time she decides, if she decides to go for it.
For the time being, she is extremely happy with her result and I am very grateful she decided to trust me for her surgery and allowed me to share this result. 🙏

P. S. Of course, we didn't cut her muscle! 💪

After pregnancy or rapid weight fluctuations, most women will experience changes in their skin quality; sagging skin, stretch marks and separation of abdominal wall muscles is the most common trias.
The bulging stomach can also give pain and discomfort, in addition to the non-appealing look women usually complain about. If minor, the separation of muscles can be controlled by exercise, but most often surgical repair of diastasis recti by fascial plication is necessary in order to obtain the flat and tense belly. Sagging skin has no possibility of retracting back due to the insufficiency of elastin fibers, while stretch marks are breaks in dermal collagen that can not be repaired by any technique, except surgically removed.
Aside from all the beforementioned issues, many women will experience an emotional impact of these physical changes: they may become self conscious, socially anxious, have reduced self esteem and even become troubled by their body image, which can lead to depression - this should not be trivialised!

My beautiful patient decided to regain her confidence by having abdominoplasty and diastasis recti repair, and it gives me great satisfaction to see how she's blossomed over the last year since her surgery. Notice how there is no more excess skin and the scar is neatly hidden within her underwear. The colour will fade away even more in the following months. What a transformation, don't you agree?

Last weekend, I was privileged to be invited to give lectures at the Workshop "Advanced Surgical Techniques with Motiva implants" held in super sunny Nicosia, Cyprus. It was a full circle for me after being there 3 years ago to start this incredible journey of travelling, lecturing and meeting new people, some of whom have influenced me greatly.

This time around, it was a fun few days of amazing lectures and live surgeries, as well as good times with friends and colleagues. As always, these meetings are a great opportunity to learn new skills, reflect on your own techniques and improve your knowledge.

Can you reshape and redistribute the breast volume without implants?

For sure! But depending on:
- preexisting glandular firmness and volume
- skin quality
- preference on upper pole fullnes
- surgeon's technique

This lovely patient did not have implants but just a simple breast reduction, leaving her with a rejuvenated look.
Better torso length, more upper pole fullness and a much more natural ni**le position all add up to a much better proportion.
