Today marks the anniversary of the death of Professor Andrija Štampar, the founder of the School of Public Health and the Croatian public health system, who passed away on June 26, 1958, in Zagreb.

Andrija Štampar (born in Brodski Drenovac, September 1, 1888 – died in Zagreb, June 26, 1958) was a Croatian physician, specialist in hygiene and social medicine, and one of the founding members of the World Health Organization.

Following his vision, the definition “Health for All” became a recognizable motto of the World Health Organization, which he chaired at its first Assembly held on April 7, 1948 - a date that has since been celebrated as World Health Day.

!!! Our professor Danica Galešić Ljubanović has been elected president of the International Board of the Renal Pathology Society !!!

Renal Pathology Society is the largest international association with headquarters in the USA, which gathers nephropathologists from all over the world with the aim of transferring knowledge about the pathology and pathophysiology of kidney diseases.

!!! Our professor Boris Brkljacic has been elected an honorary member of the American College of Radiology (ACR) !!!

!!! Andrija Štampar’s Diaries Included in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register!!!

We are pleased to announce that Andrija Štampar's Diaries have been officially included in the prestigious UNESCO Memory of the World Register. This represents a great recognition not only for Croatia and its cultural and historical heritage, but also for our institution – the School of Medicine University of Zagreb and its Andrija Štampar School of Public Health.

On Monday, May 19, 2025, the deceased who donated their bodies to students of the School of Medicine University of Zagreb were sent to their final resting place.

This ceremony was attended by relatives and friends of the deceased, as well as professors and students of the School of Medicine, who expressed their gratitude with honorary speeches in the Great Hall of the Zagreb Crematorium.

On Monday, May 19, 2025, the deceased who donated their bodies to students of the School of Medicine University of Zagreb were sent to their final resting place.
