The Safety first! project focuses on the professional skills and knowledge of youth workers providing physically and mentally safe environment for youth. Youth need to feel and be safe to explore their interests and opinions. Youth workers need to offer physically, emotionally safe environment to develop skills. The project wants to support youth workers, youth educators with a framework of various elements to develop their professional competencies. Developing recommendations and a researched and tested training will be the core of the project. The online platform with practical tools and case examples will be available for self-directed learning and supporting the work of youth workers. Sensitising, raising awareness and giving practical tools goes hand in hand in the project. The consortium is built on the aim to create synergies. Partners are experts and practitioners of an important segment to reach the aim. Hungarian Association for Expressive Arts and Dance Therapy (IKTE-Hungary), the project leader, provides emotional safety knowledge and practice. Civil Protection Falchi del Salento (Italy) provides first aid, raising awareness on safety matters knowledge and experience. Community Development Institute Association (CDI-North Macedonia) provides broad and long experience in youth work, working with at times emotionally difficult topics, groups. MOVE to Be You - Movement for feeling good (Austria) provides experience and practice working with youth, locally and internationally. The results of the Safety first! project would contribute directly to the quality of youth work and as it has no previous known and acknowledged examples at EU level, it is absolutely novel and innovative. https://ikte.hu/safetyfirst/

We are pleased to announce the results of the Safety first - Erasmus+ project
https://safety4youth.com/hu/ All our products are available for free download on the project website.
The platform offers interactive learning materials, examples based on real cases, and practical tasks to make learning enjoyable, useful, and applicable to everyday work.

How can youth work be made physically and emotionally safe?
What can we do as youth workers to make young people feel truly safe?
We explore these questions with the help of international research, new training materials, and a newly launched online platform.

Our platform enables independent learning and focuses on the following key areas:
Professional preparation – a knowledge-based, value-based starting point to build on strong foundations.
Self-assessment in youth work – awareness of your own limits, responsibilities, and how you function.
Physical safety – recognizing risks and ensuring a safe environment.
Mental safety – creating an atmosphere of trust and emotional support.
Crisis management – recognizing warning signs and responding effectively.
An inclusive approach to safety – ensuring that all young people feel seen, safe, and supported.

We believe that through continuous learning and development, you too can contribute to creating a safer and more accepting space for young people.
