The EURORDIS Leadership Award recognises exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of people living with rare diseases across Europe. This year, we are pleased to present this award to Ágnes Cser. 👏
A long-standing member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) since 2004, Ágnes Cser has contributed with excellence to the work of the Workers’ Group, the Civil Group and she was one of the founding members of the Ethical Committee.
As Rapporteur for the EESC opinion “Leaving No One Behind: European Commitment to Tackling Rare Diseases”, and through her support for the opinion on “Ensuring strong European solidarity for rare disease patients”, she has played a key role in shaping EU discussions on rare diseases. Her call at the 2025 European Parliament event to designate 2026 as the Year of Rare Disease Patients further demonstrated her vision for a more inclusive Europe.
Through her tireless leadership, Ágnes Cser has elevated the voices of people living with rare diseases, their families, and civil society, making a lasting and meaningful impact within the rare disease community involving policy makers, experts, scientists, health and social workers without borders.
