Bone success story! 🤩 She was diagnosed with osteoporosis in her thoracic spine five years ago right before she started at Kinesis Pilates. She recently had a bone scan and no more osteoporosis nor osteopenia! Her spine is stronger in her 70s than it was in her 60s!!

Over 200 Pilates lessons (mostly privates), seeing a personal trainer regularly, walking and hiking daily, taking the suggested medications, and recently adding yoga to the mix has increased her bone density significantly. Movement heals. Exercise makes a difference. You are not doomed by your diagnosis!

Precise control! This principle is essential to our practice and for us to achieve uniform development of our bodies.

Precise control teaches our muscles to respond with accuracy to our mind, so that each movement provides the maximum benefit for each muscle group. When you consciously control your muscle movements, you strengthen weak muscles, elongate tight muscles, and release tension in overworked muscles, thereby promoting uniform development. It works together with the concept of awareness to help us avoid injury, you’re more stable and sounder on your feet, so you’re less likely to trip, move too quickly, or bump into things; it will help you avoid injuries that can result from accidentally overextending or overusing joints and muscles. It helps discipline your body to the Pilates postures, movements, and breathing techniques, giving your body a deeper, more effective workout with every movement you make.

CHANGE THE WAY YOU SEE

I don’t have crow’s feet,
I have happy happy memories of laughing with friends until the tears flowed.

I don’t have frown lines,
I have the marks of my frustration and confusion, which I battled through, smiling in the end.

I am not going grey,
I have shimmering highlights of wisdom, dashed throughout my silver hair.

I don’t have scars,
I have symbols of the strength I was able to find, when life got tough.

I don’t have stretch marks,
I have the marks of growth and the marks of motherhood. My womanly evolution.

I am not fat,
I bear the evidence of a life filled with abundance, blessings and good times.

I am not just forgetful,
I have a mind so full of stories, memories and moments there is scarce room to hold much else.

I am not old,
I am blessed, with a life of great length, something not everyone can say.
