Genomics England and the GenOMICC (Genetics of Mortality in Critical Care) consortium are spearheading a human genome sequencing initiative that aims to analyze the genomes of tens of thousands of COVID-19 patients in the U.K. to try to understand how a person’s genes may affect how they react to the virus.

What does our cytogenetics team do?

We perform classical cytogenetic examinations (G-banding) and molecular cytogenetic examinations, i.e. digital karyotyping (CMA / arrayCGH / SNP microarray analysis SOMA) on prenatal (fetal) and postnatal samples.
Together with several recognized Hungarian cytogenetic laboratories (Petz Aladár County Teaching Hospital, Hungarian Army Medical Center), we undertake to perform fetal examinations of pregnant women at the highest level of reliability and to the best of our current knowledge.

Meet the leader of our team, Dr. János Kósa

He is a molecular biologist and immunologist, managing director of PentaCore Laboratory, and senior research fellow at the Semmelweis University Department of Internal Medicine and Oncology.
He is a pioneer and advocate of the clinical application of next-generation DNA sequencing. He has significant experience in the development and operation of genetic diagnostic techniques (CE, IVD).
He has published his works in international journal papers, as well as releasing several Hungarian professional and informative articles.
