🌷 SAVASANA 🌷
🌷Contrary to what many people think, yoga practices are not just about breathing exercises and meditation. Actually, the asanas we practice are a very popular external part of yoga, but not the whole.Yoga is actually such a state that leads you to establish the connection that you lost with yourself, where you develop and expand with what you learn at each step when you progress step by step, and it becomes a light on your journey.
🌷There are many styles, schools of yoga, so the practices can be different from each other. Even though you can experience different schools of slow, fast, static, but in the end, they all meet in savasana (deep relaxation) in the last bit of the class.
🌷What I usually experience is that if I skip this last few minutes of the class, I'm not sufficiently aware of the energy that emerges with that practice. That deep relaxation actually gives you a lot of space to listen to yourself. That's why, for me, when my savasana practice is over, it's the place where I can be alone with myself and listen to myself.
🌷Personally, I love experiencing the Savasana in this ☝🏻Supta Virasana (Saddle/ reclined hero) pose. The most important benefit of being in this pose leads you to compress the vertebrae in the lumbar region of the spine, strengthening the muscles in that region and maintaining the natural curve of the spine over time. The posture can stretch the quadriceps and hip flexors so the flexibility of the muscles in the upper legs helps to nurture our knees. In some people like me, it also stretches the abdominal muscles and the groin area. It is a very good posture for those who stand and walk for long periods of time. It relaxes and rests the legs.
