Botox versus fillers... Which one shall I go for? Good question! Here is a bit of info to help with your decision. The key is: horses for courses. If you know what each one does, you will be confident with your choice and will know what to expect.
Botox relaxes those muscles that wrinkle the skin in sensitive areas (crows feet, forhead). Without the movements the skin has the chance to recover and smoothes. It is easy, relatively cheep, almost painless, minimal downtime, very safe, subtle, but significant improvement, gradual effect so no sudden noticable changes. But you pay the price by loosing some or all the movements in that area. Plus, the deep wrinkles can be stubborn and disregard the botox. And it wears off after 3-4 months (if you have it regularly it lasts longer and longer though.)
With fillers you can achieve more, even deeper folds can be softened successfully, you can go for a liquid facelift or facial recontouring, you have the immediate „wow” experience that lasts 9-18 months (depending on the area, the product used and the lifestyle). However you really need to trust your injector as it is less textbook and more artistic than botox. It will swell up for about 3-4 days, and yes, it can be more costly.
Sometimes it is best to combine the two. The best examples are the forhead and the liplines. Have a look at this frown here. The first two pictures are with botox before and after (note the softening of the mid-forhead lines), the second lot is before and after add on fillers (note the remarkable improvement in the frown area - the model also requested correction of the flattened right eyebrow tail with fillers). The two together gives a remarkable result.
