Do you have trouble getting to sleep at nighttime? 🌙

This simple Qigong exercise is often practised in the evening as a way to slow things down before rest.

The movement is gentle and coordinated with the breath, allowing attention to settle back into the body.

You can explore it in your own time and see how it feels for you.

Do you have an evening practice that helps you wind down?

Calm your mind with this Qi Gong exercise.

This movement is called Flying Eagle (Fēi yīng), from the Zhan Zhuang Qigong system.

Spread your arms and let them float, feeling your body settle and become almost weightless. This gentle movement helps open the body’s key energy points, relaxes the joints, and supports a grounded, focused mind.

If you’d like to explore more simple Qi Gong practices like this, you can start with our FREE 6-Day Qi Gong Intro Series, guided by Master Peter Caughey.

Short daily sessions you can follow from home.

Comment “Qigong” and we’ll help you get started. 🙌🏻

Core meaning of Nyepi here in Bali

For the Balinese, Nyepi marks the Balinese New Year in the Saka calendar and is a time to restore balance between humans, nature, and the spiritual world.

The belief is that when the island becomes completely silent and still, negative forces or spirits think the island is empty and pass by, leaving Bali purified for the new year.

Nyepi reminds me that silence is not emptiness, but a return to balance.
For one day, the island rests. The noise of human life fades, and I am invited to listen more deeply — to my thoughts, my heart, and the quiet rhythm of nature.

In the stillness, I remember that renewal begins in silence.

Enjoy the day of peace and stillness.

- Peter Caughey

From all of us at Forest Rock Qigong, we wish our Balinese friends and everyone a peaceful Day of Silence. 🙏🏻

Look For Signs.

I'm talking about signs in our life that guide us in a certain direction in which we need to be heading. I believe we get signs all the time that lead us in a certain direction, that's the best way we can go for ourselves.

I think the signs always tell you that you've gone the wrong way as well. And sometimes we don't want to listen to that. Our mind's made up its opinion, but sometimes we just have to go, no, that's not working and come back.

– Peter Caughey

Have you ever noticed a moment in life where a sign helped guide you in a different direction?

🪷 Something Happens in the Stillness

“One of the hardest things for me…is to sit in stillness and not move.

When I meditate I don’t adjust. No matter the discomfort, I take my mind into it and it dissolves.

I don’t move my arms, my legs, my toes. I don’t gulp. I just sit perfectly still. And it takes discipline… because you want to move.

But something happens. Magic… inside the stillness. It’s like opening a doorway to a different reality.”

- Peter Caughey

Try it — just sit, and don’t move. ✨

Have you ever experienced this kind of stillness? Share in the comments. 🌿

This Qi Gong exercise is very good for longevity.

Pushing the Clouds from the Long Life Qi Gong system helps you take more oxygen into the body.

☁️ Press Forward, Bend Knees (Exhale):
Press your hands straight forward as you breathe out and bend your knees, keeping your back straight.

☁️ Stand Up, Arms Down:
Straighten your legs and lower your arms back to the starting position (palms down).
