Mallet finger is an injury condition that occurs in the tendons of the fingers. This condition makes it impossible to straighten the fingertips because the tendons that connect the muscles to the finger bones are stretched or torn. Mallet finger is a condition often experienced by athletes who play sports using their hands. However, mallet finger can also be experienced when the fingers are pinched. After experiencing an injury, the sufferer will usually experience pain to the tip of the finger until the part appears drooping. Then, the injured part will become red and swollen. The fingertips may also appear bruised. The sufferer will also not be able to straighten the fingertips, unless there is help using the other hand to straighten the fingertips.
