This is not just a story about illness.
It is a story about being seen.
Hamzah is a teenager facing isolation due to cancer of the bone. However, in the midst of
aloneness, he found his voice through his drawings.
And when our nurses noticed, listened, and encouraged him, something shifted.
With every home visit, he gained what medicine alone cannot give: confidence, connection, and
hope.
Healing is more than medicine. It is about being believed in, supported, and reminded that you
matter.
By standing with children like Hamzah, we help hope find its way home. Together, we can
ensure no child faces illness alone.

Did you know that with the right care, the risk of HIV transmission from mother to child can be reduced to almost zero?
A motherโs love is powerful and when paired with the right knowledge and care, it can protect life itself ๐With early testing, consistent treatment, and compassionate support, HIV transmission from mother to child can be prevented.
At Rachel House, we continue to walk beside families with love, education and hope, including those affected with HIV - because every child deserves a healthy beginning ๐

Misha teaches us that courage does not always speak loudly.
It lives in quiet smiles, in patience through long treatments, and in dreams held close, even on difficult days. In the midst of uncertainty, Misha chooses hope.
Her journey reflects what palliative care truly means: being there for a child in every moment, easing their pain, and helping them feel safe and cared for. At Rachel House, we walk beside children like Misha so their days are shaped by dignity, presence, and compassion not only through medical support but through listening, connection, and care that sees the whole child.
As we step into 2026, let kindness guide us forward.
Together, we can bring hope to Misha and other children who are waiting to be seen and cared for.
Let this be the year we choose to care - gently and consistently.

In quiet moments, the CIA magazines opened up a whole new world and countless hours of joy for our children, whose world has become smaller due to life-limiting illnesses they are battling. Stories sparks their imagination, drawings inspire self-expression, and learning becomes a source of comfort.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Majalah CIA (), along with , for donating these child-friendly magazines and drawing pencils. Your loving support nurtures curiosity, creativity, and emotional well-being, and helps our seriously ill children grow with hope and joy.
Thank you for embracing the children in your loving care, and helping create moments of lightness, filled with joy and creativity.

Last Christmas, our children battling serious illnesses experienced a truly special moment of joy. They each received a thoughtfully personalised gift package that made them feel seen, remembered and deeply cared for.
We are deeply grateful to HOSA Indonesia (), a student-led health science organization based at Jakarta Intercultural School, for leading this Christmas initiative with such generosity of the heart. By taking the time to prepare meaningful gifts, the students at HOSA Indonesia brought warmth and smiles into the lives of the children facing long and challenging battles.
To young hearts everywhere, if youโve ever dreamed of doing something meaningful, know that you can. Like HOSA Indonesia, you too can rally your community and bring real change in the lives of children who need it most.
Together, we can create more moments of joy, more memories of warmth, and more reasons for children to feel seen, loved, and celebrated ๐ซ๐

The new year brings a fresh page.
It also offers a chance to care more intentionally.
For children living with serious illness, time is not measured in months or resolutions - but in moments of relief, presence, and being understood.
As we step into this year, we are reminded that care is not only about medicines. It is about showing up. About listening. About standing beside children and families through days that are both ordinary and hard.
If you wish to begin the year with love in action, your support can help ensure that care continues to reach homes, hands, and hearts โ gently, consistently, and with dignity.
Thank you for walking with us into this new chapter.

As 2025 comes to a close, we pause to reflect on what truly carried us through the year: people who chose to care ๐ค
Every home visit, every moment of comfort and pain soothed for a child was made possible because many hearts moved together. Donors who entrusted us with their generosity. Supporters who believed in our mission. Volunteers who shared their time and skills. Partners who stood beside us when it mattered most. Each role, seen or unseen, became part of the care we were able to offer to children living with serious illnesses, and their families who walk this difficult journey alongside them ๐ฑ
This year reminded us that palliative care is not only about medicine. It is about presence. About listening. About dignity, relief, and hope - even in the hardest moments โจ Together, we strengthened our services, reached more children, and continued to bring care to places where it was deeply needed.
To every child and family who allowed us into their lives, we thank you for the trust you placed in us ๐ค And to everyone who supported Rachel House in big and small ways, thank you for helping turn compassion into action.
As we step into a new year, we carry forward the the love and the commitment to keep showing up ๐ The journey continues, and we move into the next chapter with hope, dedication, and a shared belief that every child deserves care that is rooted in dignity and compassion.
Thank you for being part of our journey this year.
Thank you for being part of the care ๐

Send a message to Rachel House - Children's Palliative Care Indonesia:
Founded in 2006, Rachel House (Yayasan Rumah Rachel) has pioneered palliative care in Indonesia for seriously-ill children. We provide home-based palliative care services to seriously-ill children with Cancer and HIV AIDS free of charge.
In addition, we educate and equip medical professionals and local communities with palliative care skills and knowledge to provide care for those in need. We advocate at a national and international level for improved access to palliative care for all Indonesians regardless of income, illness or education.
Right now, there are close to 700,000 seriously-ill children in Indonesia, but less than one percent currently has access to pain relief or palliative care.
Palliative care is a specialised medical care for people with serious illness and their families - providing pain and symptom management and emotional, social and spiritual support - so that patients can live pain-free and with optimal quality of life.
Our highly-trained nurses provide home-based palliative care services to the seriously-ill children with Cancer and HIV AIDS and their families across the greater Jakarta region, free of charge. Our nurses provide pain and symptom management for the children and emotional, social and spiritual support for the entire family.
Community Network in Palliative Care:
Our Community Network in Palliative Care (CNPC) program trains volunteers to provide practical support to serious and chronically ill members of their local community. Working closely with local Puskesmas (primary health clinics), our CNPC program is currently active in 13 communities across North and West Jakarta with more than 260 volunteers active on a weekly basis.
Clinic-In-A-Box:
We equip medical professionals and students from across Indonesia with the key skills and knowledge around palliative care. Taught by some of the worldโs leading palliative care experts, our classes cover topics such as pain management, communicating about serious illness and bereavement support.
Public Advocacy - The Living Wall
We believe that no child should ever have to live or die in pain. To help turn this dream in to a reality we campaign to raise public awareness and advocate for a more central role for palliative care in our public health system.
