Travel + Leisure Magazine has named Ubud as the best city in Asia. Bali's resorts also top the charts as the best hotels in the world.

This wellness quote has made think of my own path towards wellness. First, I was figuring out what wellness meant for me beyond its more widely known definition. Then I found that it was a process of getting to know myself more intimately. After that, I learned that it was not a neat, straight line or static.

Now, I have accepted that my own path towards wellness is organic and evolving, just like me. And that feels like a warm welcome into the essence of Life, which is flowing, and with ebb and flow. A sigh of relief or, rather, an exhale with a sigh of relief.

The more intimate I get to know myself, the more authentic my expressions. I may never "arrive" at a destination and I am totally OK with that for life is a flow of love.

How has your path towards wellness been, beloveds?

They say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." I was only beginning to understand the meaning of this saying when I was still living in Toronto and visted Bali in perhaps 2005.

As I walking the Tjampuhan Ridge, I got to talk with one of the painters and he made a comment on how beautiful my "fair skin" was! That was when I learned that the colour of your skin could define your beauty. In Toronto, I was beautiful because of my tan.

While I totally agree with Audrey Hepburn in her quote below, I also know that the soul is not what we notice the first time we meet with someone new. Perhaps we sense their energy immediately but more often than not the soul.

A friend of mine pride herself for being "sensitive", you know, to say the right thing to appease others in any situation is her idea of beauty. I, on the other hand, dwas raised by parents who value authenticity and integrity, freethinking and freedom of speech. Needless to say, our ideas of beauty differ quite significantly.

What is beauty to you? Please share below. Thank you. 🌺

SUN-day blessings, beloveds.

Immensely enjoyed this interview between Alexandre Tsuk of Breathing Cold and Niraj Soma Naik of Soma Breath.

I have been passionately learning about pranayama for quite a long time. It's a passion! In a previous post, I wrote about the origin of my name, how I received it from my beloved gurudeva and that one of its significances is that She, my name sake, governs our life air (praana). According to Ta***ic Numerology, having the number 8 (Prana, the Pranic Body) in Soul position tells me that breath is my essence. My life lesson is to learn the intimate relationship between finite and Infinite.

We know that the ancient wisdom of Yoga is about 5,000+ years and I've been practising for 20+ years. A decade ago, on 30 June 2010 to be precise, to complete a 2-year YTT, 6 years after I started it, I submitted a research paper "Breathing as a Practice".

The 6-week Breathing Cold Breathwork & Ice Bath teacher training felt like a full circle, a homecoming. I am grateful for my decision to undergo the Breathing Cold training. Not only I've broken the "hate cold vrtti" but I have also "returned to myself" and it feels heavenly. Aho! Thank you, Alex.

KRIYA TO CHANGE THE EGO
A Kundalini meditation with Russell Brand.

EFFECT: This meditation can be used to combat tension and hypertension, creating a deep concentration and a detachment that allows for observation of attachments. The awareness and identification of attachments allows for dis-identification with them by giving the object of attachment to the Infinite, the Cosmos, or to G-O-D .

G - Generator
O - Organizer/Maintainer
D - Dissolver

At times, inner sounds such as drums, bells, whistles, etc. can be heard due to pressure adjustments in the skull and eardrums. If the sounds develop in deep meditation, it is a normal adjustment of the neurons in the cortex. This phenomenon will pass quickly and should not become a distraction from the primary focus and process of the meditation.

POSTURE: Sit in an Easy Pose, with a light jalandhar bandh.

EYE FOCUS: Fix the eyes on the knuckles of the thumbs. Narrow the eyelids.

MUDRA: Keep the spine straight and the chest slightly lifted. Relax the arms down at the sides. Raise the hands in front of the center of the chest at the level of the heart. The palms face toward each other. Curl the fingers into a loose fist. Keep the thumbs extended and point them upwards. Bring the hands toward each other until the top segment of the thumbs touch along the side of the thumbs. The rest of the hands stay separated.

BREATH: Bring your concentration to the breath. Create a steady breath rhythm with the following ratio and pathway: Inhale through the nose slowly. The length is about 8 seconds. Hold in the breath for about 8 seconds. Release the breath through the nose in 8 equal strokes. Hold the breath out for 8 seconds. Once this pattern is set, you can gradually increase the time from 8 seconds to as long as you like. If you increase the time, keep the time equal in each section of the pranayam.

TIME: Begin this practice gradually. Start with 3 minutes. Increase the time to 31 minutes by adding 3-5 minutes per week of practice.

TO END: At the end of a session, inhale deeply, stretch the hands over the head, and open and close the fists several times. Relax the breath.
