Someone told me I have a thing for metal.. perhaps indeed, as I am Yang Metal in Ba Zi.. or perhaps because there is no sword, but only the light of true wisdom that illuminates the complete reality.
In the meantime, in the realm of “red dust” we are often misguided into living lives & accepting decisions of others that shape our world & the planet of future generations.
It feels like the weapons are the symbols of power and hence do deliver the message exactly where it has to go.
Exactly 6 years ago for 100 years of Bauhaus we presented with Guido the art object.. real T-34 Tank in London Stompie Garden painted into colours of this legendary school of thought.
The tank was divided into two parts:
1. One half represented human ingenuity realized through the application of the principles and methods of the Bauhaus, with the goal of achieving good for humanity, such as when the tank was used during the Second World War to save and protect humanity and its freedom. This part was coloured with graphics that uses three colors (yellow, red, and blue) and three geometric shapes (triangle, square, and circle) of the Bauhaus.
Furthermore, the drive wheels were covered with Yin Yang symbol to recall that every object, and in particular every weapon, can be used both to affirm evil and to combat it.
2. The other half was painted black and represented the use of human capabilities to produce evil, the absence of light and of spiritual enlightenment. For this reason, flowers were placed beneath the tank’s tracks in memory of all the events where human capabilities and the tools designed by man were used against humanity and to annihilate its freedom.
This object became a legend & a scandal, further recreated in 100% scale to be presented in underground occupied social centre Forte Prenestino, l’ Ordine d’Orchitetti in Rome, Museum of Modern Arts MAXXI, & finally at EUR during G7 meeting with tank tower directed to congress hall… special forces then blew it off at night afraid of it..
While I left Europe with Sword in my backpack, Guido remained with his fencing sabre in occupied EU zone, continuing striking with the “art of war”.
