No one should love you more than YOU.
I began to see the value in my Yoga practice and the little light bulb moments that occurred on my mat began to land as a practice in real life. I stopped caring so much about what others thought of me, I was not so highly strung or stressed, the little things that would once bother me no longer did. I began to see value in the person I am and for the first time in my life, began to see how hard I was on myself, ALL THE TIME. I could see how I would beat myself up with a baseball bat after every conversation I had with anyone, overthink and tear myself apart regardless of what was discussed. If I did something I would tell myself why what I did was so crap, and that I would always be substandard. My self-esteem was the lowest of low and through my yoga practice, I began to become aware of it all, like it was an ugly mural across a wall in a back alley. All these little insights into myself were shocking and horrible to actually see, but being able to see my habitual bullying thought processes has enabled me to correct them and understand that I don’t have to listen to or believe those thoughts. Through courage, time and practice, I stopped listening to the thoughts that would bring me down and despite it all, I actually started liking myself.
This was when The Yoga Movement was born. I know there are people like me out there. We overthink, overanalyse, over communicate, over criticise, judge & under love ourselves to breaking point, habitually, over and over. But what if it didn’t have to be like this anymore?
I believe Yoga and meditation should be accessible to everyone. I believe in a world where Yoga is offered to people of all abilities, body types, ages, genders, socioeconomic status… I mean it! EVERYONE. Why? Because if everyone in the world had an opportunity to feel good about themselves, then there would be less suffering in ourselves, and therefore less suffering in others.
It is my dream to help you shift your stuff through the practices that I know. To change the world and make it a better place, first we need to change ourselves to become the best we can be. You CAN be the best you can be! Become a part of The Yoga Movement.
About Karina:
Karina has a Bachelor of Education in Human Movement, Health Education from Sydney University. She is a 300hr Yoga Teacher and Personal Trainer. She has completed two 200hr Foundational Yoga Teacher Trainings with Absolute Yoga Academy and HYA Yoga Studios & Academy and a 100hr Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Sarah Owen & Janine Leagh. Karina teaches Power Yoga, Hot Yoga and Dynamic Flow Yoga and Yin Yoga. She teaches regular classes at HYA Yoga Studios & Academy, and you can see their timetable here.
She has 10 years experience in the health and education industry, with a background in welfare and mental health. In her previous career, Karina was a high school PDHPE teacher with a background in Welfare and positive mental health for teenagers and young adults. Her online programs are written with a wealth of knowledge and experience behind her.
As your teacher I will always teach with enthusiasm and love. My classes are energising and uplifting with a focus on connecting breath to movement, and developing deep mental focus that you can take with you into real life.
Yoga is different for everybody. However, I believe that Yoga is not about how flexible you are, it’s about what you learn on the way down.
