My passion for nature, my love of gardening and a desire to produce something that would enhance the overall wellbeing of the body and mind is what prompted me to start experimenting. I grow lavender, calendula, chamomile and lots of herbs in my own garden at The Wrens Nest and use these to make my own infused oils which I also use to make soaps and skincare products. I also use natural butters, like cocoa and shea, along with certain seed and vegetable oils and pure essential oils. I really believe in the power of scent and aromatherapy plays a huge part in what i do. Using my soaps and creams will give a lift to your day every time you use them. I use only natural ingredients and there are no chemical or artificial preservatives in my products. I truly hope you enjoy using them and they bring a smile to your day.

Some freshly poured Sea Breeze soap in the workshop this week, so I thought I'd share the story of this soap with you.

🌊This soap was inspired by one of my favourite beaches in the world - Ventry Beach in West Kerry. My brothers live down in that part of the country, so I'm lucky enough to visit it a few times a year.

🌊This soap was dreamed up on a wild, blustery morning walking that beach. I wanted to try and recreate the scent of the ai by the sea on a wild morning.

🌊My brother Niall collects and dries seaweed for me, which goes in the soap alongside an essential oil blend, including lemon verbena, lavender & vetiver. I think it comes pretty close to what I had in my head.

I was asked recently why my pots of face cream are so small and if I did bigger ones and the answer is very simple.

I do this size because my ingredients are so good that it lasts for aaaages!

If you look at most face cream brands, even the expensive ones, the first ingredient will be water. This makes the cream lighter in texture but it needs the addition of other, often not very nice, ingredients to stop the water from forming mould and to help it emulsify (just a fancy work for combine). It also means that if good ingredients are added, they are at much lower quantities. The water is the bulk ingredient.

✨️My face creams, however, do not contain water. They contain organic butters & oils and beautiful essential oils. Nothing else. They are rich and buttery, and you only need the tiniest amount to moisturise your whole face - I'm talking really tiny amount, less than pea size.

✨️So that's why my creams come in small pots. Oh, and did I mention that your skin will feel frickin amazing after using them.

Did you know there are some easy steps you can take to make your soap last longer?

🧼My soaps are packed with beautiful plant based oils & butters, which means they feel incredible on your skin - really soothing and moisturising - but you need to look after them if you want them to last as long as possible.

🧼I have a couple of things to share with you that will do just that.

🧼A soap saver bag is a little sisal bag perfectly sized to fit a bar of soap. You pop your soap in the bag and wash with the bag. Just get it wet and lather it up and you can use it directly on your skin. Your skin gets the added benefit of  little exfoliation too. Then just hang your bag on the shower to drip dry for the next time. Your soap will dry out properly and because the bag lathers the soap quickly you are using less. Result - your soap last longer.

🧼You could also use a soap dish. I have some beautiful bamboo or ceramic soap dishes available to buy but any dish with holes will work. A sea shell with holes drilled in it would do the trick too. The idea is that the soap can drain after use and it is not sitting in water as this can cause the oils & butters to get soft & squidgy and you don't want that. If the soap can drain & dry properly between uses it won't get soft. Result - your soap lasts longer.
