The death has occurred of
Smet (née Doherty), Anne– 24th July 2025 - Donegal Town, Co. Donegal & formerly St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England. Born in Granard, Co. Longford. (Suddenly).

Beloved wife of René, much loved mother to sons Richard (Beverley), Dean, daughters Deborah, Elaine (Sean), cherished sister of Mary, Susie, Phelim and Christy. Dearly loved grandmother and great-grandmother. Predeceased by her parents Marie and Felix, her sisters Maggie and Betty, her brothers Jack, Seamus, Alan and Gerry. Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by her husband, children, step-children, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family and many friends.

Remains reposing at Tír Conaíll Funeral Home, Donegal Town on Monday July 28th from 2pm to 7pm, family only please from 2pm to 5pm. House private. Funeral leaving from Tír Conaíll Funeral Home, Donegal Town on July 29th at 10.30am. Anne’s Requiem Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, Donegal Town at 11am, followed by cremation at Lakeland’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Cavan, at 2.30pm approximately. The death has taken place of Bridget Giannakopoulos (nee Johnston ) in Athens ,Greece aged 86 (formerly Rosbeg, Donegal) on 14th July 2025

She will be sadly missed by her two sisters Noeline Furey and Ita Prokos, sisters-in-law Marian, Mena, Maria and Katina, brothers-in-law Mickey and William.

Godson Nick Prokos, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, god children and extended family and friends.

She is being repatriated back home to Ireland.

Reposing at Shovlin's Funeral Home, Ardara on Saturday 26th July from 3pm to 4.30pm. Departing 4.45pm and travelling via Pier House, Rosbeg to be received into St Conal's Church, Kilclooney at 5.45 to repose overnight.

Funeral Mass will take place at 9.30am, on Sunday 27th July with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery

Bridgets Funeral Mass will not be streamed live but will be available on Shovlins Funeral Home page on Monday morning from 11a.m

All welcome afterwards at The Dolmen Centre, Kilclooney for refreshments.

The death has occurred of McHugh, Brendan (Late of Rathfarnham, Dublin and Lough Doon, Portnoo, Co. Donegal), 9th July, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his loving family who will be forever grateful for the exceptional care given to Brendan by all of the staff in St. Michael’s ward, Anna Gaynor House, Our Lady's Hospice. Predeceased by his sister Bernadette and his brothers Tom, Frank, Josie, John, Vincent, Martin and Gerald.

Brendan was a loving husband to Ann and cherished father to Adrian and Shane, daughters in-law Mariko and Maggie, loving Grandad to Kai and Bonnie, brothers Kevin and Willie, sisters Marie, Theresa and Noreen, sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

His remains will be reposing at his home residence in Rathfarnham Saturday evening from 5pm. Reposing at Shovlins Funeral Home, Sandfield, Ardara, Co. Donegal on Sunday Evening from 6pm to 8pm. The death has taken place as a result of a road traffic accident of Aidan Mc Nern 209 Castleview, Dunkineely, Co Donegal and Galway. Predeceased by his father Eamon. Deeply regretted by his loving family, his mother Caroline, his daughters Grace and Ciara and their mum Annmarie, his twin brother Gordan (Laura), his sister Lisa (Martin). Funeral Service at his home on Wednesday afternoon 30th April at 2p.m followed by burial in Kilcashel Graveyard.

The sudden death has taken place of the Very Rev Dean Austin Laverty former parish priest of Ardara.

Beloved brother of Eunan and sadly missed by sister-in-law Teresa, nieces Thérèse & Roisin, grand nephews, grand niece and great grand nephew, his devoted housekeeper Josephine, his PP Very Rev Aodhán Cannon and fellow clergy of the diocese of Raphoe, parishioners and friends.

His funeral cortege will pass through the town of Ardara from Sandfield tomorrow at 3pm on his final journey to the Church of The Holy Family for prayers. Reposing there tomorrow evening until rosary at 8pm and on Monday from 11am until Rosary at 8pm. Funeral mass on Tuesday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.
