The death has occurred of Maisie Mulligan (née Reilly), Dunbeggan, Aughnacliffe, Co. Longford, 21st May 2026. Maisie passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the wonderful care of the staff of St. Joseph's, Dublin Road, Longford.

Predeceased by her parents Bernard and Annie, husband Paddy, daughter Maura, grandchildren Leah, baby Donna and baby Nial. Sadly missed by her loving family Margaret (Ciaran), Anna-Rose (Ciaran), Padraig (Una), Martina (Richard), Seamie (Margaret), Lisa (Raymond), Francie (Angela), Celia, Barry (Nicole), son-in-law Michael, her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

May She Rest In Peace.

Reposing at the home of her daughter Lisa and son-in-law Raymond, Aughnacliffe (N39 TX65), on Saturday evening from 5pm until 8pm.

Funeral on Sunday morning after 10.30am Mass in St. Colmcille's Church, Aughnacliffe, interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

A gentle reminder that the Open Day and official opening of our new funeral home on Longford Street, Arva takes place tomorrow, Sunday 17th May.

Everyone is welcome to call in from 10:30am to view the facilities, meet our team, and join us for refreshments throughout the day.

The official opening will take place at 2pm.

Over the years, we have been very grateful for the support shown to us by families in Arva and the surrounding areas.

Our new funeral home on Longford Street has been designed to provide a calm, comfortable and welcoming environment for families and friends at difficult times, while also giving people a place to gather together within their own community.

We are looking forward to officially opening the funeral home this Sunday and would be delighted to welcome you through our doors.

The death has occurred of Mel Farrelly, Carrickadorish, Aughnacliffe, Co. Longford, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 6th May, in the wonderful care of the staff of Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.


Beloved husband of Mary and dear father of Marc (Rebecca Connolly), Louise (Brendan Ward) and Sean (Joanne Barry). Sadly missed by his adored grandchildren Aoibhín, Morgan and Chloe, great-grandchildren, brother and sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.


Predeceased by his parents and his brother Seán.

The death has occurred of Ann Doyle, née Crowe, Hollybank, Arva, Co Cavan, Thursday 30th April, peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Cavan General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Pre-deceased by her parents Phil and Susie, brother Pat. Beloved wife of Martin and dear mother of Siobhan (Nicky O'Hara), Padhraic (Blaithin), Grainne (Charlie McDonnell), Shauna and Saoirse (Brendan), her adored grandchildren Cian, David, Aoife, Donnacha, Lorcan and Eoghan, great-grandchildren Emily and Nicholas, brother Larry, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Given how much both have grown and developed in recent years, our Proprietor and CEO, Declan Finnegan is very pleased to announce a new Management Team who will guide both branches of the long-established business into an exciting new chapter.

Under Declan's continuing leadership, Bernard McPhillips will take over the day-to-day running of Finnegan Funeral Directors as Manager, continuing his trusted role as Funeral Director and guiding the business as it prepares to open its new Funeral Home in Arva, Co. Cavan, expanding the scope of the caring and dedicated service it has offered through the Finnegan family to Co. Cavan and beyond for over eighty years.

Taking over as Manager of Lakelands Crematorium and Funeral Home, Ian Fee will expand on the trusted role he has fulfilled for over six years with the company, continuing as an award-winning celebrant and now as the guiding hand of the exceptional team in Lakelands who have become a trusted partner of funeral directors and families around the country, guiding them with compassion, dignity, and professionalism.

As both elements of the company continue to evolve to meet the growing and diverse needs of the community, Bernard and Ian, working closely with Declan as he continues to lead and direct the business, will seek to offer the same dedicated service in the coming years as we have for generations.
