Polar opposites! Ireland vs Netherlands in the shame and beauty of s*x.

In this week’s episode of the Happy Headers Podcast, trauma therapist Siobhan Leijen and hypnotherapist Paul Gill dive deep into the contrasting histories of Ireland’s s*xual repression and Amsterdam’s s*xual liberation.

💔 While Ireland was gripped by the control of the Catholic Church, where unmarried mothers were shamed and confined to Magdalene Laundries, Amsterdam was embracing a s*xual revolution—celebrating bodily autonomy, freedom, and choice.

Why did the Church hold such power over women’s bodies in Ireland? How did this impact generations of women and families? And what can we learn from the stark contrast between these two cultures?

In this powerful Pride Month episode of the Happy Headers Podcast, Paul Gill (Hypnotherapist) and Siobhan Leijen (Trauma Therapist) dive deep into how Ireland has evolved in its acceptance and celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.

We reflect on the groundbreaking 2015 vote for same-s*x marriage, the legacy of resistance, and how Irish society continues to navigate the complex intersection of s*xuality, religion, and healing. The episode also unpacks the scandals and hypocrisy of the Irish Catholic Church, and the trauma it has caused for generations.

This is an honest, insightful, and healing conversation about visibility, pride, and progress. 🌈

The important issues of our children’s mental health were raised last night at this outstanding event hosted by A Lust for Life.

We heard about children as young as 5 years old being on anti-depressants, children with ASD being discharged by CHAMS simply because they are diagnosed with Autism and the unfulfilled promises made by our leaders to put our “children first”.

It was nothing short of inspirational hearing the panel last night speak on the importance of a preventative approach to children’s mental health. We cannot continue to accept the status quo of mental health services for our children. We are a wealthy country and we all pay enough tax to make our children’s welfare a priority.

I am standing beside Bressie on this movement as a professional and a mother of children on the spectrum.

Please stand with us for positive change 🫶🏻
