I gave up my earbuds a few months ago to lower EMF exposure near my brain. Yes, the wired earphones are less convenient, and yes they look old-fashioned, but I’d rather that than take these risks:
🔹 Radiation close to the brain → Bluetooth buds sit inside the ear canal, just millimetres from brain tissue.
🔹 Constant signal → They emit low-level radiofrequency (RF) radiation whenever connected, even if no music is playing.
🔹 Research gaps → Long-term effects of this kind of exposure haven’t been fully studied, but some evidence links heavy RF exposure with oxidative stress and changes in brain activity.
🔹 Safer swap → Wired earphones carry sound through a cable, no wireless signal, dramatically lowering EMF exposure.
🔹 Bonus → Better sound quality, no batteries, no need to worry about pairing.
I don’t particularly love wired headphones, especially at the gym, but I’m siding with intuition and caution on this one.
